Influencer Marketing - Is it worth paying for?
There was a great post from an author that spent $44,000 on a book launch and what worked and didn't work, and she shared that influencer marketing was maybe not the best investment. That story combined with an audit of our Amazon Ads performance over the last five years inspired me to share this video. Have you paid an influencer for book promotion? How'd it go?

That's valuable information. I think, as authors, we must be brutally honest about our work and the potential readers. I tell anyone willing to hear that writing is the easy part. It's the other things that cause headaches and, if you're not cautious, empty your wallet. To begin with, only you care about your book. Sales will be largely affected by how much you care. It takes dedication and mindful effort to support and nurture your book throughout the journey of publication and distribution. If you are committed, it will turn into a "job." Chances are, your initial royalty check will leave you breathless; I'm a realist, not a cynic. Make a budget, establish achievable goals, seek a mentor or guide, put in the effort, celebrate successes, and keep going. It's definitely worthwhile. This comes from a man who, before print-on-demand, had 50 cases of unsold books dropped off at his front door without warning when the distribution warehouse closed. Several books later, I'm still at it. It's great fun. I believe the rewards come from the journey and the opportunities a book offers, rather than from the book itself. 😎

Same here.
Print-On-Demand
My book is live on KDP. I want to offer print-on-demand (POD) from my site. I have an Ingram account, but because of technical issues on their end, I haven't uploaded the manuscript. For digital, I'm considering D2D ebooks. The key is to offer direct sales from my site. Recommendations?

My book is up at amazon
Got an email saying Perfect Keto was up. So, I bought the first copy to make sure the kindle version was okay. The link is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HJ3Y8LH3. 229 drafts over two years off and on. Without the help and support from Book Launchers and the folks at skool, this would have taken longer. Okay, enough celebration, back to finishing the SEO work on my webpage.

Ahhh, the author's life. Well done! That is a work of passion.
Time for some advice...
I published my current book, Confessions of a Reformed Financial Advisor, on KDP in September 2025. The book is well received; however, I haven't done any marketing per say. My plan is to load the manuscript to IngramSpark and D2D as soon as I resolve an ISBN issue. My funnel is on my site, www.tedmclyman.com, along with a couple of courses. I'm rolling out a marketing campaign soon. In effect, I'm doing a "launch." Any advice, recommended tools, etc.? Thanks in advance.

Great question. My intent: To ignite a grassroots movement to move the financial world from products to behavior. Strategy: Phase 1) B2C public offering to people interested in spending smart, frustrated with traditional financial advice, and business as usual (book, study guide, online courses, small group coaching, and community). Phase 2) B2B targeting coaches and financial professionals wishing to integrate MBS into their businesses (Step 1 tailored for coaches and financial professionals). Phase 3) B2B MBS "Financial Choice Architect" intensive college-level behavior finance certification program. (Steps 1 & 2, small group and individual coaching, community, MBS Money Temperament assessment, white-label license for use of registered MBS products and services). I am currently introducing my book and MBS via international podcasts, professional relationships (primarily through LinkedIn and Alignable), and daily discovery calls with coaches and financial professionals to discuss opportunities to partner and collaborate. From this, I am conducting MBS masterclasses and seminars with partners. I also blog weekly and post to LinkedIn and Alignable daily. I will launch a new B2C funnel in the next two weeks, which was created in collaboration with a new partner. The new MBS Money Temperament profile is in design and development. My network now includes about five committed partners who are actively cooperating to advance each other's business goals. I plan to identify, train, and mentor 15 to 20 new partners, creating a network where everyone benefits. Picture a Venn diagram. Opportunities and growth are the points where we all connect. By understanding the logical links, commonalities, and divergences between partners, the group becomes stronger. I'm doing my first "traditional" 90-day promotion through Bookbeetel on Monday. The promotion includes a homepage listing (1 week), weekly email feature to 1.24M readers, daily social media posts, and an ongoing website link.

I'm expanding over the next 60 to 90 days using PR, podcasts, and outreach.
