Lessons From 500+ Proposals: What Actually Worked For Me!
After submitting hundreds of proposals and analyzing countless successful freelancers, I've noticed patterns that consistently lead to client responses and project wins. I wanted to share these insights with the community since I wish someone had told me this when I started. Proposal Writing: The Approach That Tripled My Response Rate The biggest mistake I see freelancers make is writing about themselves instead of the client's problem. Here's the structure that transformed my results: 1. Opening hook that shows you understand their specific challenge Bad: "I'm an experienced developer with 5 years of experience." Good: "I notice your e-commerce site is experiencing abandoned carts at checkout - this is likely costing you thousands in lost revenue each month." 2. Validate with relevant experience (but keep it brief) Bad: "I've worked with many e-commerce sites before." Good: "I solved a similar checkout abandonment issue for a furniture retailer, reducing their cart abandonment by 37% in just two weeks." 3. Outline your specific approach to THEIR project Bad: "I can help with your project using my skills." Good: "For your situation, I'd recommend first implementing error detection on the payment form, then optimizing the mobile checkout flow which typically accounts for 60% of abandonments." 4. End with a clear next step (not an open question) Bad: "Let me know if you're interested." Good: "Would you prefer to discuss this approach via a quick 15-minute call tomorrow or would you like me to send over a detailed implementation plan first?" Pro tip - In the End, write PS: and ask some good questions. This definitely helps! - (Advanced stage Pro tip) Research the hell out of the Job. Create a 5-minute Loom video, explaining everything that you will do and how you will do and what impact it will create. You will definitely get the call back, because in a sense, you already passed the interview stage as well. But the point here is to explain everything in the Loom video

New Here and Excited to Learn!
Hey everyone! I’m new to the community and just wanted to introduce myself. I’m Dorothy and I recently started diving into online business. I’m here to learn, connect, and grow. I’ve been following my friend that's in the community for a bit, and finally decided it was time to take action and join in. Looking forward to connecting with like-minded people and learning from all of you. If anyone has tips for getting started or recommended content to check out first, I’d really appreciate it! Let’s grow together!
