3 contributions to From Job to CEO The Experiment
Experiment #1 Update 2!
Welcome to all of you who recently jumped on board, we are now at 21 members! 🥳. Goal - 100 in 30 days... Update: → what worked: a direct follow-up email to the 16 waitlist people who hadn't joined yet - several of you came straight in. Yay! Lesson for me, if people aren't acting it's usually because you haven't asked directly enough. → what also worked: mentioning the community in another Skool group (shout out to @Sage Grayson for supporting me to post in your group ☺️) A few new faces came through that way. → today's experiment: I have over 330 people so far who just signed up for my From Job to CEO bundle. They're already interested in the topic. While the group was mentioned in that first email, really who is reading that - we just want to get to the great offers in the bundle! So today I'm going directly email with a standalone mention - not buried in a PS, its own paragraph, one clear ask. My hypothesis: someone who signs up for a bundle is already more action-oriented than cold traffic. They should convert better to a free community. We'll see. 👀 I'll report the numbers tomorrow. 21 down. 79 to go. 27 days left. What would you do today to get to 100? I'm open to ideas - this is an experiment after all. 😊

@Niky Egerton Where do we locate a link to send them to this community?

@Niky Egerton Found it! I will definitely be inviting people to this community.
Experiment #1 Update
Day 2 of getting to 100 members. We're at 12 (well, I'm a person so 13! 😂) here's what I've noticed: → what worked: connecting the launch of skool to my bundle From Job to CEO → what didn't: well, it did and it didn't - the waitlist had 18 people on it and 2 of you jumped in with the notification (thank you ☺️) so this is a great reminder to go and follow up with the remaining people.... → one thing I'd do differently: I think linking it to the bundle was good BUT I do wonder if the bundle itself meant people are just trying to get access to the offers rather than joining up to skool right now so will be interesting to see if the follow up emails when the bundle noise dies down are more successful. I also think that the waitlist meant I lost a bit of momentum - if the membership had actually been live then, would those 18 just have jumped straight in... Any thoughts on this? Do you think launching skool during a bundle is a good idea or just more noise?

You need to get your community to help you with getting more community members. Their excitement about the community, the classes, learning, etc. will go so much further than just an email from you. You can ask your community to invite their small business friends (or those thinking of starting a business) and you can also ask for reviews that can be included in your future emails.
I'll go first — here's my intro 👋
Since I'm asking you all to introduce yourselves, feels only fair I go first. I'm Niky. I live in New Zealand (yes, the time zones are genuinely chaotic 😂), I'm 18+ years into a senior leadership career in the public service, and I'm building my own business, right now, while still fully employed and wrangling a young family. Why am I doing this? Because I've always wanted to work for myself. Because I watched my Dad start businesses growing up and it never left me. And because pouring all this energy into a career where extra hours don't translate into extra reward stopped making sense a while ago. So here I am. Building in public. Sharing every experiment, every mistake, and every win, including the ones that are embarrassing to admit. Your turn. 👇 Drop your intro below, you can use this template if you need it: Hi! I'm [NAME], based in [COUNTRY] and I'm currently [JOB/SITUATION e.g. still in 9-to-5 / side hustle started / recently left]. My biggest challenge with building a business alongside work is [CHALLENGE]. I'm excited to [ONE GOAL]. Can’t wait to hear about you all.

Hello, I am Sue and I am based in the USA. I recently lost my full-time job and need to still bring in income, so I have been working on a side job creating educational materials for K-2 teachers and also doing affiliate marketing. I need a full-time job to cover medical insurance and build up a retirement fund, so my personal business will have to worked on around a regular 9-5. The ultimate goal is to move towards my personal business full-time once I near retirement age. I don't see myself as ever fully retiring as I have to keep my mind sharp and keep myself busy.
