biggest mistake guys like us make...
if you could only offer ONE service, which one would you offer? i fell into the trap of saying "yes" to too many things and I see a lot of owner operators making the same mistake the most successful business owners i've interviewed on the pod have 1 thing in common... they pick 1 service and DOMINATE their service area what's your most profitable service? what would happen if you put all your time, effort, and energy to marketing & selling more of that service? rather than saying yes just to "keep my customers happy" what if you started saying no to the work that isn't making you any money ? check out this video to learn how i'm narrowing our service offerings to cut the fluff & specialize

I just made a similar move in my pest control business. I bought a pest control business almost a year ago that did mainly apartment and hotel general pest control. Within that we did bed bug work for these hotels and apartments and realized our income was heavily weighted on how much bed bug work we did on top of the general pest control services. Two months ago I made the decision to go all in on bed bugs, both commercial and residential. I created a DBA, and market as the bed bug specialist in my area. It has done wonders for my business, basically doubling monthly revenue the first two months of going all in. Now the hard part is figuring out what to do with general pest control side. I have 2 techs that handle those services while I do all the bed bug work. I need to figure out hiring a tech to handle the bed bug jobs, and then decide if I want to sell off the general pest control side or keep if going if it’s not taking too much of my time. Challenge for me is still proving that the early success with bed bugs only is sustainable through the winter months or if I just caught it at the right time and had a couple of one off months. September is month 3 and I have been steady. I really like being the specialist in my area for one thing and not the jack of all trades. It is overwhelming for me trying to figure out every pest that might enter an apartment and the proper treatment. It feels like if I can hire a solid tech then I can spend my time on marketing and building relationships with property managers, hotels, etc to really kick this thing up.
