Ready to let go of Facebook (as social media, not for ads)
I never garnered a following on Facebook. Not my page, nor my reader group (both are under 100 follows/members). As a last-ditch effort to decide if I should stop bothering with FB altogether, I've been running an experiment for a couple of weeks between IG and FB. I've both scheduled posts and posted live twice a day over that time, and I have absolutely no reach on FB. Not even with my followers. And my reader group doesn't see my posts 80-ish% of the time. Only my ads are interacted with on FB. On IG, though, I have almost 2100 followers and receive sooooo much more interaction and interest there. Since IG and FB both have disabled cross-platform posting for scheduled posts, I'm thinking about giving up FB to concentrate on what's working and alleviate the stress of putting effort into a platform my readers either don't use or have not found me on (I do have the links everywhere). Does anyone see a reason this may be a bad idea? I'm glad for the input and insights! 💜

I schedule posts to both FB and IG using the "Planner" in Meta Business Suite. My reach has been growing the more I've been using it.
Are we sleeping on direct-delivery multimedia? A case study in bypassing Amazon’s delivery fees.
Hey everyone, I'm currently running a 21-day experiment to revive a dormant pen name (inactive between 2018-2024 and released in too many genres, I'm fixing that!) using a Digital Special Edition framework, and I wanted to share some early tech stack data. Like many of you, I have image-heavy, asset-rich files (mine has custom-embedded soundscapes, running at 20MB). - The Amazon Problem: Under Amazon's 70% royalty, a 20MB file triggers a $3.00 delivery fee penalty per download. If I sold it there for $4.99, I'd net $0.49. Plus, Kindle's legacy rendering strips out custom formatting and flattens images. - The Direct Solution: I bypassed Amazon entirely. I built a premium, fixed-layout ePUB, launched on Kickstarter, and locked in delivery via BookFunnel to protect the margins and handle the tech support. We hit 40% funding in the first 48 hours, but as expected with a cold list, the mid-campaign flatline is real (zero sales today). I am treating this entire campaign as a live audit for direct-to-consumer multimedia formatting. My question for the group: For those of you who have successfully revived dormant backlists or run direct-delivery campaigns for premium digital assets, what did your mid-campaign traffic push look like when you couldn't rely on Amazon's algorithm? If you want to poke at the layout or audit the campaign page to see how the file size/pricing model is structured, here is the live link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lcgiroux/a-regency-romance-like-youve-never-experienced?ref=18stkl&token=b3a86c8e I'd love any and all feedback!

I've never run a kickstarter, but I've backed plenty. Do you have stretch goals? Most that I've backed have those and it can be really effective. Another thing is add-ons. I've seen some that appear most of their funding comes from those.
NL re-engagement
After today's talk, I discovered that I haven't run a campaign to unsubscribe inactives in over THREE years!! Apparently I needed that kick in the pants! 😆 Now I have 2.5k subscribers going through my win-back sequence. I've also scheduled reminders every 6 months going forward. Hopefully that will help NL stats which have been going downhill recently.

@Taylor Delong The nice thing is that once it's set, it's done... even over three years later. 😆
This could flop, or it could be a great idea…
Bahaha I got a thought that wouldn’t shut up. And just went with it. My book that comes out in August only has 1 preorder at the moment. 😅😭 Which is the lowest of any of my releases. I decided to try something… I put the first chapter on my BookFunnel. The link will expire before release day. Maybe this will A-grow my mailing list and B-get some more preorders because at the end of the chapter it has a link for pre-ordering the full book. Of course I had to make a dramatic video to go with it. 😅
This could flop, or it could be a great idea…

How creative! Good luck!
Change your identiy!
The reason I was so excited to start this community is because when I look back on my journey, I notice how I shifted my identity to receive what I want. And the fastest way to change your identity is to join a tribe--and guess what? Right now you're in a tribe of authors who are focused on marketing their books, who support each other, celebrate each others success and having a ton of fun doing it. WIN! So thanks for being here and making this community so awesome and fun. I owe so much to all my author friends who challenge me and hold me to higher standards, either by modeling them or reminding me to advertise my new release and update my covers (Tara and Stasia, I'm looking at you). I love authors so much, but I notice a lot of author groups are full of posts about what's wrong with Amazon. It's okay to notice what's not working, but then I want to move on from dwelling in the energy of the problem to dwell in the energy of the solution--or at least wondering what's possible. I hope you will use some of the meditations in here to think about what's possible. Even if you don't, I know the whole tribe will be shifting your believes automatically! I'll be posting some "How I did it" interviews with 7 figure authors over the next few days to inspire us. Thanks again for being here...hugs and welcome to bootcamp! <3 Lee
