The underestimated color schemes
I am a big fan of colors, but when it comes to men's fashion, unlike for women, we have to be judicious or we risk the possibility of trying too hard. Hence, we choose the default option of neutrals - beige, navy, grey, olive, white,, and black. Some of us tinker with earth tones - burgundy, forest green, and yellow (I am a HUGE fan of these three). But, I think taking a more scientific approach, we can look at the color wheel and decide on what would work. This method has historical foundations, and expert designers use them meticulously. Of course, dressing up in colors might back fire, but I think it would be worth it! I am attaching a very basic version of the color wheel. My ideas of dressing based on the color wheel are rational. Go monochromatic but with different hues of the same color for an edgy look. Go dichromatic (two colors) with somewhat matching jacket and trousers for a smart casual look (aka, the suit look, but less formal) along with a neutral colored shirt. Go trichromatic by choosing three colors that form the same "family" like yellow and blue yielding green. Let me know your thoughts.
