How do you normally choose yarn weight?

You can tell I struggle at the beginning of this foundation double crochet but it got better towards the end. It looks so ugly, but I refuse to start over 😤

Lord, this project tested my patience. I wanted to challenge myself to design another pattern and learn how to combine stitches and deal with stitch multiples. These are all based on double crochet, which I generally only use for granny squares. I alternated between DC rows, a DC mesh row (DC, ch1, sk st), a DC shell row, and the iris st/double V-st row (2DC, ch1, 2DC). The longer starting/turning chain helped straighten the base of my triangle, which was curved and wonky in my previous post. It’s a win. I would make a couple more and would find it meditative now that I know the pattern. 😆

I had to redo the top half of the top since I made the arm holes too low and too big the first time around. The top fits quite well to my surprise. It is the 3rd top I made, which includes the one we learned on TikTok. This is definitely the best made and a personal win. I still need to weave in them ends, but I am still deciding on very short sleeves or sleeveless and want to bring in beads maybe to cinch sleeves if I do them.
