Tell us a little bit about who you are, and where you're from and we want to know: 1. Who you’re researching 2. Where they’re from (if you know) 3. And what you’re stuck on (or hoping to learn) Ask a question, even if it's basic. There is no such thing as a silly genealogy question here!

Hello, I am researching several brick walls I have hit in my genealogy research. I am hoping to learn more about online resources and skills for searching in England and Ireland. My great grandmother Mary was born somewhere in England in 1856, after her mother died, her father brought her and 3 brothers to the United States and then abandoned them. They were adopted out to different families. Then, my 3rd great grandfather was born in somewhere in Ireland, I don't know when he came to the United States. The earliest record I can find on him is a marriage record from 1847 when he married my 3rd great grandmother. I am always interested in learning more knowledge about genealogy research.

I want to give a big Welcome to the new members. 🤗
How would you feel…!
How would everyone feel if I started posting ‘individual’ biographies of famous people and their family history stories? Taking inspiration from @Diane Fleetwood’s story about her family, I thought I’d start with Beatrix Potter? Good idea? Just an update....here's the Tale of Beatrix Potter https://www.skool.com/beginner-family-history-hub-4853/classroom/82cadb3f?md=3c38b11b760543a6b62f8ae787c90825

I will get the biography finished up and share it with the group. It is one of my favorite ones.

Sorry I have been missing; I have been sick and then I had an entire week solid with doctor's appointments. I still have one more tomorrow. Then hopefully I can get the rest of that biographical wrote up this weekend.
Podcasts
I have never had any interest in listening to podcasts as I would rather watch something on the tv, but that has recently changed thanks to @Ceri Logan. She has shared some details of her favourite genealogy podcasts, so I thought I would give them a go as it's something I am extremely interested in, and what a surprise I am really enjoying them and finding them so informative. I started listening to 'A Family History of...' and loved how they had added so much more details to a persons life - what it was like to live at that time, general employment, living conditions etc. So today, I have picked one of my ancestors and I am trying to put together a more detailed story of their life (on paper, not podcast!), but I am learning so much more and hopefully making it more interesting to share with family and friends. I will share my story on here too in the hope to inspire more people 😉

So where do you find these podcasts?? I would be interested in the genealogy related ones. I also enjoy true crime stuff as well. @Diane Fleetwood I have found you can add a lot to your family stories, and the personal stories of ancestor by looking for what I call snippets in the newspaper's archives. I have learned about ancestors from these snippets. I have found ones related to births, family gatherings, family visiting from other places, Military, Education related, etc. Sometimes you find bigger articles as well. Best way to find these snippets is to do a search in newspapers archive's by only entering a surname and County, State. (Sometimes I enter a year time span) I learned more about my own father than I ever knew from these.
Need Help with 1940 Census
My grandfather name is John O Bible and I have been trying to figure this out for quite sometime, my mom is the only one of his 11 children still living and she does not remember him being married but twice, however on family search it has an Alice Hill married to John O Bible, after researching the marriage certifacate I can see where they just possible found a John Bible and attached it. However after looking at the census that was done it 1940 it says she married a John S Bible which I have also found in my family tree and it better matches the age and information provided. Is there a better way to prove which John Bible it belongs to because I have had several people reach out to me telling me that Alice needs to be added to my tree, and i just politely tell them that until I can get more information to prove which person that she belongs to I am not adding her to my grandfathers tree. I have attached the copy of marriage license and a copy of the census that I have found any help would be greatful.

Vintage Postboxes
We’ve been into Newcastle today and as we were walking back to the MOT centre we spotted this 173 year old Queen Victoria post box. Has anyone come across an older one?
