🎙️ Okay...this Behind the Build is going to be a GOOD one.
@Sybil Hall @Todd Thornton and I just wrapped our conversation, and we went all over the community-building map. 😂 Free vs. paid. How you show up as the community owner. What you do when building gets HARD. Affiliate links and whether they actually make sense for your community. And quite a bit more that I wasn’t expecting us to get into. What I loved most, though, was how much of Sybil’s experience applies whether you’re just opening the doors or you’ve been building for a while. There’s a little something in this one for everybody. ❤️ I’m going back through the conversation now because there are definitely a few pieces I want to pull out and make sure we don’t lose. Sybil’s Behind the Build is coming soon. 🎙️ And Sybil...thank you again for letting us into the REAL build. ❤️

If AI Ends Humanity, What’s Your Final Skool Post?
There’s a lot of “AI may end humanity” talk going around lately. So let’s prepare responsibly. If you only had one Skool post left before the robots took over, what would you post? Bonus points if it’s: “Join my 30-minute How to Stop the Robots Challenge.” “Comment ‘ROBOT’ and I’ll DM you the survival checklist.” “Only 3 spots left in my AI Apocalypse Mastermind.” P.S. I’m not trying to minimize the real concerns around AI. Sometimes humor is just a good way to start the conversation. P.P.S. AI companies asking to be regulated will reduce their long-term liability and freeze new startups out of the bigger AI market. Also, they don’t need anyone’s permission to make their current models safer on their own. Just saying.

@Lisa Vanderveen love this Lisa! I agree with you. I don’t believe Ai will take over the world but I do think the Big Cities are going to feel like it has. We were here long before Ai and one flip of the switch will turn it all off. So just have a backup plan, garden, sew, learn to make fire and use water purification. I know who holds my soul so no worries. 🌻
📓 RESEARCH NOTES: When Does Onboarding Actually End?
As we've been looking more closely at onboarding, we've moved beyond Start Here posts, welcome messages, and what someone is told to do first. We've been thinking about the experience of being new. And one question keeps coming up for us... When does onboarding actually end? Is it when someone... 👋 joins the community? 📌 reads Start Here? 💬 introduces themselves? 📚 opens the first resource? 📅 attends something? Those are all things we can see and measure. But someone could do every one of them and still be wondering... 💙 What am I supposed to do here? 💙 Where do I fit? 💙 Who are these people? 💙 What happens next? Which made us wonder if we've sometimes thought about onboarding in terms of what a member completes rather than what changes for the member.🤔 Maybe the better question isn't... Did they finish onboarding? Maybe it's... Do they still feel new? And that's what we're sitting with today. Think about the newest members in your own community. What would you notice that would tell you they no longer feel like a newcomer? We're curious about what you would actually look for. 🔬🐼

I enjoy reading @Donna Thornton @Oddysey Campbell @Kathy Adams @Miranda Van Gogh @Charlie Schaffer all of your well thought out ideas and comments. I agree with onboarding is an important initial process, but I like the community experience in here. When I first started in Skool every community was strictly Courses. So I tried courses and never felt the “community “ aspect. So the newer Community feel, is the longevity for me.
🎉 FIRST PAYING MEMBER!!!
I have permission to hype her, so obviously I’m going to. 😂❤️ Just over a week ago, @Lisa Vanderveen opened the doors to Kingdom Peace & Prosperity. If you’ve been following along, you know Lisa has been BUILDING. 😂 She’s been experimenting, changing things, following ideas, having conversations, and creating something that feels very much like HER. And today... SOMEONE PAID TO BE IN THE ROOM!!! 🎉🥳❤️ KPP officially has its first paying member. Lisa, I know you have BIG dreams for what you’re building, but I hope you stop and enjoy this one. Because there’s only ever ONE first paying member. ❤️ Someone saw what you’re creating and said... Yep. I want in. THAT deserves a celebration. Congratulations, Lisa!!! 🎉❤️🥳

🎤 What If You’re More Qualified Than You Think?
A little reminder because @Jessica Cosci Jessica’s Human Advantage Summit speaker applications close in 2 days. And before anybody reads this as “Donna thinks I should apply”...I don’t. 😂 But I DO think opportunities like this are worth stopping long enough to consider. Jessica invited me to speak, and my immediate reaction was: “But I’m not an AI expert.” So I almost ruled myself out before I really thought about what she was asking. The more I looked at The Human Advantage, the more I realized this isn’t necessarily about being an AI expert. It’s about what we humans bring as AI becomes a bigger part of how we live and work. Our experience. Judgment. Creativity. Curiosity. Connection. Perspective. The things we’ve learned by actually living, working, building, failing, trying again, and figuring some stuff out along the way. 😂 And that got me thinking beyond Jessica’s summit, too. When we’re building something of our own, it’s easy to spend most of our time inside our own little corner of the world. But sometimes participating in someone else’s summit, podcast, panel, interview, workshop, or community puts us in conversations we wouldn’t otherwise have. 🧩We meet people. 🧩We practice talking about what we believe. 🧩We hear different perspectives. 🧩We discover which parts of our own message connect. 🧩And yes, sometimes new people discover our work, too. So this isn’t me telling you to apply. It’s me saying: If you looked at Jessica’s summit and thought, “Oh, she doesn’t mean someone like me,” maybe take one more look before the deadline. Your perspective may genuinely belong in the conversation. And if this particular opportunity isn’t for you, that’s okay, too. Maybe the bigger question for all of us is: Where might we be ruling ourselves out before we’ve even explored what could happen if we stepped into someone else’s room? 👀 Jessica has all the summit details in her In the Build post. 🔨💜
