🚨 Exciting Announcement!! 🐐🐕‍🦺
We’re so excited to officially share something we’ve been working on behind the scenes… In addition to our highly trained service dogs, ASA Service Dogs is now offering fully trained Service Goats. Yes—you read that right. Service goats bring a unique set of skills to the table, including: • Natural terrain stability and balance support 🏔️ • Gentle grounding presence • Highly motivated food-driven task work (seriously… very motivated) • And of course… unmatched personality Our team has been carefully developing this program to expand accessibility and provide alternative options for individuals who may benefit from a different type of working partner. We are currently accepting a limited number of applications for our first group of Service Goat placements. More details coming soon! … APRIL FOOLS 😂🐐 We’ll stick to the dogs—but you’ve gotta admit… a service goat would be pretty great 😆

⚾️ Piddy at Detroit Tigers Visit! 🐕‍🦺
Such a fun day for our ASA crew!! At ASA Service Dogs, we primarily train service dogs, but we also stay very active in the community through our therapy dogs — everything from Read to the Dogs programs to fun visits like this one with the Detroit Tigers players. We were invited out to spring training to spend time with the players and coaches — some who are injured and others who are away from home and missing their families. It was such a great experience all around. Padfoot, my personal black lab 🖤 (11 years old and still got it!!) came out, showed off some fun tricks, soaked up all the love, and brought a ton of smiles to the players and coaches. We mixed in some service dog training with therapy-style visits, and it turned into such a great training opportunity for our team. We even got feedback from one of the coaches that the response has been “off the charts!!” 🙌 Huge thank you to our ASA team for coming out — the dogs had a blast, the players loved it, and we’re so excited to keep this going!! 🐶🐾

@Amanda Taulborg so I googled it because it is very impressive how quickly he moves and then is able to catch and not miss or seem off balance. Pretty impressive but Padfoot always impresses me😊 - Advanced Vestibular System: Dogs possess a specialized vestibular apparatus in their inner ear, containing fluid and small crystals that detect acceleration and tilt, providing a, "personal GPS" for orientation. - Rapid Equilibrium Recovery: Their vestibular system communicates instantly with the brain, allowing them to re-center themselves immediately after stopping.

@Julie Kelley me too! I just worry about keeping my balance, no way I could also catch something with my mouth😂 Dogs are amazing!!!
🛒 Shopping Cart Tip for Service Dogs 🐕‍🦺
Most dogs naturally want to heel on the outside of a shopping cart. Why? ➡️ It’s more comfortable. ➡️ It doesn’t block their view. ➡️ They can see what’s happening around them. Walking behind a cart feels different. It partially obstructs their vision and changes the picture they’re used to in heel position — so it takes practice. Here’s how to help them succeed: ➡️ When first introducing the cart, don’t stand centered behind it. ➡️ Shift your body slightly to the right side while pushing. ➡️ This creates a small “pocket” of space behind the cart. ➡️ Your dog can heel comfortably in that pocket — without drifting to the outside. You’re not forcing the position — you’re shaping it. Over time: ➡️ Practice short distances. ➡️ Build duration. ➡️ Gradually move back to pushing more centered. Cart work is a skill. Teach it like one! 🐕‍🦺 For those of you who already have a service dog — Does your dog naturally prefer the outside of the cart? Or were they confident walking behind it right away? Curious to hear your experiences 👇
