LEAD MAGNETS!
Hey team, as promised on this morning's DSA call, I put together a quick Loom breaking down lead magnets and how to use them specifically in your business. It's about 15 minutes so feel free to watch on 2x speed. The short version: if your only call to action right now is "call for a free estimate," or "get a quote" you're leaving money on the table. This video walks through how to offer something valuable up front that captures more leads and makes closing easier, without spending more on ads. I cover specific examples for contractors and trades, plus how to qualify leads so you're not wasting time on tire kickers. Worth the watch. Let me know if you have questions.

FRIDAY CHECK-IN
It’s the end of the week. It’s the end of the month. A lot of people start slowing down right here. They take their foot off the gas. They tell themselves they’ll get serious next week. Next month. Later. That’s how people stay stuck. Winners finish strong. Leaders finish strong. Businesses that grow finish strong. Do not coast into the weekend. Do not drag yourself into a new month with old excuses. Handle the call. Send the follow-up. Close the deal. Clean up the loose ends. Finish what needs to get done. So here’s the question: What are you finishing strong today before this week and this month ends? Drop it below.

@Dave Davis Yes, it can be very intimidating. My first few posts were quite cringe-worthy, but it gets easier with time. This year, I have a video of me personally appearing on the Jumbotron twice during each game of our semi-pro baseball team, in front of a few thousand people. Last year, we had a read with our logo, which was nice, but by featuring myself, I believe it will really let people know that I'm a real person living in their community. This was the spot that they created last year, pretty lackluster...

@Dave Davis You’d honestly be surprised how affordable it is. I believe it came out to around $3,000 for the full schedule, and that also includes exposure at their other events like concerts, tournaments, and special events. On top of that, you get two games where you can set up a booth for lead generation, and they even provide some swag to hand out. For anyone looking for a local brand awareness and lead gen, it’s been a pretty solid opportunity.
Banner Content
Hey guys, looking for some feedback on a banner we’re running this season at our local city baseball games. We get: • 2 live reads per game • Jumbotron video spots • This banner displayed along the first baseline Goal: brand recognition + getting people to remember/search us later (not necessarily immediate leads at the game) Curious your thoughts on this design: • Is this clean and effective for quick visibility from a distance? • Is the website the right primary callout, or should I simplify/shift the message? • Would you add/remove anything to make it more memorable or actionable? My thought was to keep it super simple—logo + website + visual proof—but I’m wondering if I’m missing an opportunity to make it more compelling. Appreciate any feedback, especially from anyone doing local sponsorships or stadium advertising. Shane

I like it. I think some of the spacing needs to be adjusted, and the logo needs resizing. Other than that, it feels pretty good.

This is the final proof... Thanks for the input/help everyone!
***Tracking Bulk Materials On JobTread***
Hey guys, quick question for the group on material cost tracking with JobTread + QBO. For materials we buy in bulk (fasteners, housewrap, trims, etc.), we’ve been entering those purchases as overhead in QuickBooks Online since they’re not tied to a specific job at the time of purchase. The challenge we’re running into is: There’s really no clean way (that I’ve found) to allocate or track those costs back to jobs inside JobTread later on, so they never truly hit job costing, just overhead. I’ve heard a few people mention this being a common gap with JobTread, so I wanted to ask: • Are you guys just leaving bulk materials in overhead? • Has anyone found a good system to allocate those costs back to jobs? • Is there a workaround using cost codes, inventory, or clearing accounts? • Or are you handling this entirely on the QBO side? Trying to tighten up our job costing accuracy as we scale, and I know this is an area where dollars can quietly slip. Appreciate any insight or systems you’ve built around this.

@Pat Johnston I’ve got a Zoom call set up this week with a few guys from my War Room group to dig into the DataX integration with JobTread. From what I’m hearing, it can do some pretty powerful stuff. Still learning exactly how it all ties together, but I’m planning to pass along anything useful once I get a better handle on it.
Weekends
Question: How many of you folks work weekends? I know when I work Saturday and or Sunday mornings, while the phone isn't ringing and the office is quiet, I can get a lot done and set the week up for success.

I’m with you on this. I feel like I can get way more done on the weekends with zero distractions—no calls, no fires, no interruptions. It’s actually some of my most productive time. I don’t fully “work” the whole weekend, but I’ll pop in for an hour or two here and there, usually a couple times, just to get things set up for the week. Helps me go into Monday a lot more dialed in instead of playing catch-up. It’s been a good balance for me without feeling like I’m constantly working.
