Foam football into any indoor wall with space or tough it out and prepare for playoff weather.
Strength Training for Kickers/Punters!
Hello all! My name is Nathan Custer. I am an alumni of UW-Whitewater where I was a Punter and kicker. I am now a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with a passion to help kickers and punters get the performance training in the weight room they need, that is often neglected for high school athletes. I believe that getting in the weight room and attacking a plan with high intent can make a large difference for any athlete looking to be the best they can be. I have experience training the specialists for the Wisconsin Badgers football team as well as being a kicker/punter myself. I fell through the cracks in high school, avoiding the weight room for the most part, relying on my raw abilities. Little did I know, I was setting myself back years of potential because I couldn't find my way to the weight room. Now my passion is help others avoid this mistake. If you're looking to add this aspect into your training routine, I would be more than happy to help you develop a plan for strength and power GAINZ to attack this summer off-season with. I offer personalized online programs as well as in person, one-on-one training for anyone in or willing to travel to the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls, WI area. Email me at [email protected] or shoot me a text at 715-218-8557 with your name, age, and school if interested!

Whitewater legend.
Hello
Hi, my name is Aiden, I’m the kicker at lomira high school. I’m coming up on my second (senior) year of football, I’ve played soccer my whole life so I’d say I have great experience kicking. I’m making this post because I’m looking for some advice or critiquing on my extra points, and kickoffs. Below I will attach a few videos I have of myself kicking 20 yd field goals.(I will make a post on kickoffs in a later day) I am really hoping to have a great senior season but for that I would like some feedback on how I can improve my distance and height.

Some adjustments I personally think you could make to be more smooth: 1)Straighten back leg, right foot flat on the ground. 2) Front knee (left) slightly bent forward. 3) Left leg foot point towards plant spot. 4) Land on left leg. Clips from Blackfor3 on Instagram to help visualize these steps. https://www.instagram.com/p/DRkVYC4jlFq/

Everyone is going to have a different leg swing and it's going to change as you develop. Trey Smack has a very long leg swing. There are some good things you can get from watching high level specialists but don't get caught up into trying to replicate everything they do. There are things I do that are out of the ordinary that work for me. You can train leg swing to a point, but your goal should make consistent ball contact. And just because you can extend your leg backwards doesn't always mean you are going to have more power. @Mike Farley What's your opinion on this?
Kickoffs
As I said last post, this will be dedicated to my kickoffs, they aren’t the best I’ve ever done but I had such little time to take advantage of this nice weather i was blessed with in February. I’ll confidently say on average my kickoffs land on the 10 or less Obiously with a few stragglers in there. During my junior season, 2 of my 4 touchbacks landed in the end zone, I carefully looked at those ones specifically but the game film I had was too far away. My normal routine for kickoffs is 6 steps back and 3 to the left, if there is a specific or better way to take my steps that info would also be very helpful.

I personally used a 2" tee while I could in high school. I also used a 2" fg block too which may have stunted some of my development getting into college, but I can't complain where I am now.

@Mike Farley For me personally, the hurdle step has always felt smoother and I think that is what is mainly taught today. At the end of the day whatever feels the best and can allow yourself to hit a consistent ball is the most important.
The Kicking Friends You'll Make...
I started this group to help kickers and punters to develop their skills to their greatest potential. But also to provide a community of like-minded people, both young and old, who have a connection to this unique position in sports. Because so many kickers (and I use that term to also include punters, btw) spend their time alone on a deserted field practicing their technique, they often don't get the camaraderie that is instantaneous for the rest of the team. So making friends can be hard. I think it's why you looked with anticipation to find the opponents kicker in the line-up to shake hands after the game... to make a connection to someone who "gets you". Yet, typical for most kickers, they make no other connection to those same people outside of the game. That's one big benefit of being here! Inside KICKING SKOOL! So, please, don't be afraid to: • post a thought • ask a question • upload a kicking video • teach a technique • make a genuine comment on someone else's post • add a funny GIF to a post that expresses your approval • even, DM me, or someone else! _ _ _ I'm an "old-timer"... but I make 100+ new friends every summer at my camps. I make a point of learning everyone's name while they're at camp. I always ask, "What's your name, what school do you go to? What year will you be this Fall?" You can do the same right here. Be brave enough to introduce yourself. If you haven't already, do so again — any time! (And if you have a picture of yourself, or of you kicking or punting, we'd all love to see it!) 😆 Hey!

For anyone interested I'm Seth, I did not start playing football until my junior year of high school. In the meantime I had been focused on playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. My junior year I ended up playing all four of these sports before dropping back down to three for my senior year. I started college off by attending the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater which is a D3 school for three semesters before transferring this spring to Southern Illinois D1 FCS. I will be heading into my true junior year competing for the field goal and kickoff job.
