Want more power, accuracy and elevation?
Who doesn't? But there's likely one culprit that is preventing you from kicking you best. Your plant leg. The idea is to hit against a firm plant leg (straight) upon impact with the ball. Many of you are allowing your leg to buckle a bit. This steals power (for sure), and likely adds inconsistency because the position of your kicking foot is subject to an inch or two of change in the buckling of your plant leg. The video below is of one of the collegiate kickers I'm working with. He's been struggling with his consistency of late. The collapse of his plant leg is a big reason why. (see video below) _ _ _ _ Take a peek at 60 HR hitter, Cal Raleigh (below) Take a look at Gretzky's slap shot (below) How about Tiger's golf swing? (below) Take a look at the body position of D3 All-American Kicker, Luke Cool (below) _ _ _ _ When you need power — this is the key position to get to. _ _ _ _ Learn to master this part of your technique by simply thinking, prior to kick, that you will plant more firmly. Typically... you will — and your plant leg will straighten — but it will take some practice to achieve. Changing your swing is tough, but this is a position you need to get to, if you want to see your kicks improve. Need more proof? Take a closer look at two of the NFL's best — Brandon Aubrey & Justin Tucker

Hate to say this, but, "you're going to miss a kick."
Then what do you do? In a game, on the sidelines. How do you react? How should you react? Here's a graphic that might help...

NCAA Transfer Portal Down to 1 Window
On Wednesday, the NCAA officially eliminated the spring transfer portal window in college football. Earlier this month, the NCAA Football Oversight Committee voted to eliminate the dual-transfer window system. However, the change had to be approved by the NCAA Division I Administration Committee. While there will only be one window moving forward, it’s unclear when that window will be. The Division I Football Oversight Committee initially recommended a 10-day portal between Jan. 2 and Jan. 11. Said Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule, "“It needed to go to one,” Rhule said, “You would negotiate with a player — and all power to the players — but you would negotiate with a player in December/January, and then have to renegotiate three months later when you haven’t done anything. That doesn’t happen in the NFL. It should be once a year, you make a decision, and then you play that year out."

Matt's right about adjusting too much during the season. You want to feel comfortable... all the more reason to know your K-zone and feel confident on all of your kicks. That said, how could I not put in my 2¢? I did a quick screen capture of you through impact (and added a stick man for you to see head, shoulder, hip, leg and foot position throughout your FG. These are all nice kicks... BUT, what do you see as your challenge toward making better contact and getting more on each kick?
Kicking Under Some Serious Pressure
Max Gilbert is a 5-star recruit, was redshirted at Tennessee, then kicked last year making 20-26 FGs and was given a full scholarship just this summer to be the Vols placekicker again. Up to this kick, he's been perfect — 4-4 this season before being brought in to make the game winning kick vs. super-rival #6 ranked Georgia. For 8 long years, the Bulldogs have had the Vols number. With the score tied at 38-38... put yourself in Max's place. Feel what he's feeling. This is me taping the game live... not knowing how it will turn out. If you didn't see it — experience it for yourself. You can't help but feel the nervousness creep in. (watch the whole thing...) • How would you handle it? • What do you do to prepare? • Do you want this opportunity?

@Cody Van Thull I didn’t know his incredibly good backstory prior… like you said, he had that “deer in the headlights” look. When a kicker turns his thinking from “Just give me the chance” to “I hope I make it”…you’re in trouble.
