Does anyone have any experience using these Red, Blue or Orange Eq1p versions from MAAT? I am just curious about why it would be over $1,000 for the bundled EQ set and why it would be better than Fab Filter Q4?

I do understand the importance of gain staging and I totally see why it’s needed in mixing. My question is more scientific. I am going through the 7 day Mastering and in the bonus content Caleb talks about not adding 7 dB of gain on the limiter and instead adding it earlier. Specifically he add it on the Pultec he uses right before the brickwall limiter. Again, I understand the importance while mixing. My question is in this single specific context. And please understand I’m not challenging or arguing. I just am really trying to get the why. It seems to me that adding gain on the output of the Pultec would be no different than the input of the limiter, or even a gain utility plugin placed in the middle. Again, sorry for saying this again, but I understand why philosophically you would maintain constant gain throughout the process. Does it make a difference sonically between 2 plugins, like in this example? Thanks.
