Do I need Marketing Help? (I know I do but.....)
I have been getting a ton of DM offers of marketing assistance for my book via social media and email. Either from my web site, or through Linekdn, easily 50 in the past two months offering to revamp all of my marketing, Amazon, Goodreads and other marketing approaches to cater to changes in Amazon, or just get better reviews and results. To be clear marketing (Just ask Sarah, Shane and the team) is my worst thing. I hate it. Cannot...will not self promote. Here are my concerns: 1. Cost. When monthly profit is somewhere between 0-20$...its difficult to justify spending hundreds on revamping the campaign/accounts. 2. How do I distinguish quality professionals from scam artists? 3. How can I trust someone with my Amazon and Goodreads accounts?

Book Club Offers
I am getting book club offers that ask for a payment in order to have my book as a highlighted topic for their club. Often this involves a Q&A session virtually and some marketing materials. Is there any benefit to these and how do you delineate between reliable ones and scams?

Thanks Julie. I didn't think so. TBH the only people I trust seem to be you guys.
What’s a mistake you see people make all the time in your area of expertise?
This is probably one of the reasons why you wrote your book in the first place, but try and think of a mistake people typically make. (bonus if you can name a few!) Side note - this is an excellent thing to think of when creating social media content!

Thinking that their technical expertise automatically translates into an ability to lead; put another way, that superior technical ability is a pre-requisite for good leadership and vice versa.

Complicated.....wrote a book. Few wish to talk about that topic. Lots of distraction and business talking about the state of the world. So....focusing on what I want to do vs what everybody else wants me to do
Do you have a publishing company?
As I continue the process of launching my book with Book Launchers, I received an email today suggesting I should consider opening a publishing company so the book looks even more professional. I do not really want to open another company....Having said that, here are some burning questions I have: 1 - How many of you HAVE a publishing company? 2 - What are the downside of NOT having one? 3 - Do you really think not having a publishing company would make you look not as professional? 4 - I completely understand the looking top-notch professional by having a publishing company "backing up" your book, but I do not want to deal with the paperwork. 5 - What else I do not know about this? Thanks so much for your input!

I set up the publishing company and also registered it (Canada so tax things may be different). But this also makes financial separation for all tax related things much easier. Especially true as I sell books at speaking events etc where I sell them for a standard cost but then after have to calculate the tax backwards. Also creates good separation from other businesses (consulting) which are all sole proprietorship. And yes...it looks cool! And with every created publishing company there is a back story to the name which is always fun to "book nerd" out on!
