@Paul Ramos I personally couldn’t do your job I get too emotionally involved. My background I was an icu matron working with children and adults. My love of dogs has always been there but more so when I had to retire early and was partnered with my assistance dog Sherling. I did various courses like canine body language, Assisstance dog specialist. With the ongoing training of Sherling life was all dogs. I came across an advertisement for pet Grief coach course and to be honest didn’t know there was such a role. As a nurse it always felt an honour to look after a patient and their family at end of life. Pets are naturally very different but is is still an honour that someone would trust me a stranger to help them get through one of the worse times of their life. I know it would be too hard for me as a vet/vet nurse. I admire the fact that you knew you had to step back for your own mental wellbeing. My coaching is in early stages but it makes me proud to watch clients be aware of their progress, I like to hear about their pet so I can build a mental picture and then see an actual photo. I want clients to have permission to grieve. Disenfranchised grief is a big problem. I set ‘homework’ tasks after each session in the early stages around self care eg breathing exercises when feeling overwhelmed. Taking short walks keeping a journal . I’m just working on setting up my social media and website. My ultimate goal is to open a sanctuary for older, disabled and abused dogs. It will be called Sherling’s Haven
If I could make one thing easier for you and your dog, what would it be?
Big or small. Day-to-day stuff totally counts. I read every reply, and I’m building Dogtopia around what you actually need. Drop it below 👇

Poll - What size is your dog?
I think this is an underestimated thing. Dog size can influence so much in our lives: Food costs Where you can go (restaurants, holidays, public transport) What you can do together (hiking, running, work) Vet bills (DEFinitely) Size of your poop bags (and what goes in it) Even size of your car 🚗 And drop their BREED in the comments! 👀
