Recall isn’t just about calling your dog back — it’s about teaching them to stay connected to you, even when you change direction. 🐾 In this video I’m showing how I use “this way” alongside directional changes to reinforce recall and encourage your dog to pay attention to where you’re going. Small changes in direction = a great opportunity to build engagement, responsiveness and a stronger recall. 💪

Last week I saw a dog that unfortunately was attacked because of an off-lead situation. How is your dog's recall? This is one of the first commands they should learn, mainly for safety. For roads, people, other dogs. So what DO you do if your dog is off-lead - but already by your side - and you need to have them change direction (for example if another off-lead dog is coming)? 'Come' isn't quite the right command. It can be SO confusing. Your dog is overweight, but you've tried. You've done the 'feed less- exercise more' thing that your vet may say as you're walking out of the 15-minute consultation. What would really work is a nurse weight loss clinic. That's the gold standard. It's also the most difficult. Because it's a lot of effort to go back and forth to the clinic. And so much of 'life' gets in the way between the 30-day visits. Makes sense that 1/2 of people struggle with their dog's weight.
