This week’s challenge 🌲
Forest Bathing with Your Dog The idea is simple: slow the walk right down and experience the forest through your senses — together. Instead of trying to cover distance, spend 20–30 minutes exploring slowly. The challenge: - 🌿 Find a woodland, forest or tree-filled walking route - 🐕 Leave the pressure to “get somewhere” behind - 👃 Notice what your dog is sniffing and investigating - 👂 Pause and listen to the birds, leaves and sounds around you - 👀 Stop and take in the trees, light and surroundings - 🖐️ If appropriate, touch the bark, leaves or moss and notice the textures - 😮‍💨 Take a few slow breaths and simply be present with your dog The fun part: At some point during the walk, stop for 2 minutes and do absolutely nothing. Let your dog sniff, sit or wander around you while you both just take in the environment.

Dogs Are Social Animals — But What Does “Pack” Really Mean? 🐕 We often hear that “dogs are pack animals” — but what does that actually mean for the dogs living alongside us? Dogs are highly social animals. They naturally form relationships, communicate through body language, and often feel safer and more confident when they have predictable social connections. But being social doesn’t mean your dog needs to be treated as though they’re living in a strict wolf-pack hierarchy. Your dog’s needs are much more practical: 🐾 Connection and companionship 🐾 Clear, consistent communication 🐾 Feeling safe in their environment 🐾 Opportunities to socialise appropriately 🐾 Time with their trusted humans 🐾 Choice, rest and space when they need it And remember: socialisation doesn’t mean your dog has to love every dog they meet. A well-socialised dog can be perfectly comfortable choosing not to interact. So rather than asking, “How do I show my dog who’s boss?”, a better question might be: “How can I build trust so my dog feels safe with me?” That relationship is where the magic happens. ❤️🐾 What does your dog enjoy most — being around other dogs, being with their humans, or a bit of both?
