Chop Wood, Carry Water
Great call today with the Collective! We furthered the conversation started last week on chopping wood and carrying water in each of the 5 pillars; Faith, Family, Finance, Fitness, Focus. what that looks like: Chop Wood: preparation. builds character, develops skills Carry Water: sustains life. prevents breakdown. creates awareness Drop some examples in the chat what you think chopping wood or carrying water might look like (habits, routines, etc.) Quote of the call: "a man who chops his own wood warms himself twice." To me, chopping wood is the act done with intention—the habit built with purpose. Carrying water is the faithful execution of that habit over time. It’s the maintenance. The consistency. The becoming. In the fitness pillar, chopping wood looks like: - Designing the workout plan - Establishing routines - Dialing in nutrition - Prioritizing rest Carrying water is showing up day after day—living the identity those choices create. Right now, Jess and I are working with @Justin Marsha to capture our expenses and write out our budget. This phase is chopping the wood. Maintaining it—updating the numbers, staying aligned, and hitting milestones—that’s carrying the water.

5 Pillars
The 5 areas we pursue EXCELLENCE in are: Faith Family Finances Fitness Focus I’ve committed to a minimum of 208 workouts this year. As of today, I’m at 13 gym workouts and 1 outdoor workout for a total of 14 of 208. Where are you at in the fitness pillar?

I’ve only been 1 time this year. Ouch! Way too many days off in between workouts.

They are supposed to be M, W, F right now. Been missing the 315 wake-up too often and just have no back up plan currently. Meaning, if I miss the AM, I don’t go which is feeling because l don’t want to deal with evening gym crowd or be flexible. However, I can do better at being pre-decided the night before. The first goal this year is to go 3X a week from now until the end of February. I’ll text Justin for accountability in the morning to annoy him, lol.

I was recently prescribed a medication and have gone through about a 1/4 bottle so far. However, I keep forgetting to take it in the evening so I haven’t seen any results from it or will unless I start taking it daily as prescribed. My workouts have been the same. Not enough consistent effort to see any results. I’m just maintaining if not getting weaker. So from now until the end of February I need to go three times a week. I’m not sure what the actual barrier is. Maybe emotion is attached to the result.
