Slow Stitch Needle Book
This is my latest slow stitch needle book. Needles can be placed on the woollen pieces or in the centre crazy patch page. I have included pockets for putting threads etc in. The front cover is a needle turn appliqué block given to me by a quilting friend who has since passed away. I have several of these blocks in varying sizes and am going to use them for similar projects. I added stitching and other ephemera to it. I have even found the perfect sized block for the front cover of my first cozy hugs book.

@Valorie Rossi just lovely Val, and just your first go! Look forward to seeing more.
Scrappy Bird
If this isn't allowed let me know and I'll delete it. Another way I used some of my tiny scraps. Crunched up brown packing paper from Amazon shipping into a rough bird shape. Wrapped shape in masking tape to hold it together, glued on small fabric scraps. Cut out cardboard feather shapes, glued on fabric scrapes, glued them to bird body when dry. Made wire feet poked them into bird body after dipping them in glue. Ta Da a scrappy bird.

The Moments We Actually See
There’s a quiet kind of magic in simply stopping long enough to truly see. This week, I paused over a black-and-white photo of a crystal glass. Just two colors — black and white — yet somehow full of life. And the more I lingered, the more I noticed why: Light and shadow. Not just “light” and “dark,” but the highlight within the highlight and the shadow within the shadow. That subtle layering is what gives objects depth, dimension, and a sense of presence. It made me realize how easily our creative work flattens when we rush… and how much richer it becomes when we train our eyes to look again. 1️⃣ What did you stop and truly see? 2️⃣ What inspiration did you find in it? 3️⃣ How might that translate into your creative projects? Big or small, fancy or ordinary — it all counts. The point is to see before we make. This is how we train the artist’s eye — one moment of noticing at a time. 🖤

Today I’m observing some stalks of gladioli’s in my garden. Yesterday they were plump, juicy and full of splendour. Today they are shrivelled and dry. We have ghastly heat and wind, with massive fires burning nearby. I’m reminded to rejoice in the fleetingness of beauty. Drink it up. Savour it. Because this too will pass. For everything there is a season.

Great question Lynda….my preference has always been to make things that are lasting, durable, of high quality…that can be passed along. In the garden, I accept the cycles of birth and death. Rejoicing in the transient pleasure, so no lasting sadness. Maybe I could make a few things that aren’t necessarily meant to last! Sadness too is fleeting. I’m thinking about Ecclesiastes… “all is vanity”….. Thanks for your probing question.
ELMERS GLUE BASTE!
Getting my next 4 quilts ready for quilting. It's a big job but Elmer's glue baste makes it easy! The hardest part is battling the huge roll of batting! I've dine the glue baste successfully for over 25 quilts.

Short summer holiday
We have just arrived at our holiday home just over an hour north of our home. I just wanted to share a photo of a basket of work that I have brought up with me. The two rice bags on top were made from blocks sent to me from members of a group that I belong to. I asked for funky fungi blocks. The bags are full of scraps to work with.

Bursting at the seams! In fact they’re ’mushrooming’ while I watch.
