@Donna Maysen Oh, I never thought of using a webcam. That's a really good idea..

REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep is a unique phase of the sleep cycle characterized by heightened brain activity, flickering eye movements, and temporary muscle paralysis. Often referred to as "active sleep," it is the stage where the most vivid and narratively complex dreaming occurs. During this time, your brain processes emotions, consolidates memories, and clears out unnecessary information, making it vital for mental health and cognitive function. On average, you enter REM about 90 minutes after falling asleep, with each subsequent cycle lengthening as the night progresses.

@Donna Maysen Interesting, how does that manifest in your sleep routine?

@Donna Maysen Ack, that does sound challenging. One of the experiences that is now really common for me is even though I'm asleep I'm aware I'm sleeping. Then even though I guess technically I'm sleeping when I wake up it doesn't feel like I've slept at all.
Common challenges for Spiritual Travelers
Good day everyone. 🙏 I've been brainstorming some ideas for the course catalog at the Hemisphere Learning Institute of Energy Mechanics. I had my team check on some of the bigger discussion group platforms and come up with a bit of a list of common challenges people exploring spirituality encounter. I found it really fascinating so thought I would share a bit of my process with you. How many of these do/have you experienced? Common Challenges The following are common challenges that a "University" could address: 1. The "Lost in the Middle" Phase (Intermediate) - Spiritual Burnout: Many experience exhaustion from the "race for enlightenment". - Loneliness: People often lose old social connections and struggle to find new ones. - Integration Struggles: It is difficult to balance spiritual concepts with daily life. 2. Mental Health & Thought Management - Toxic Positivity vs. Shadow Work: There is confusion between staying positive and the need for growth. Many feel guilty for having negative thoughts. - The "Victim Mentality" Trap: Difficulty taking responsibility for one's life. - Digital Noise: Social media and over-stimulation make stillness difficult. 3. Beginner Confusion - "Am I Doing it Right?": Beginners often quit because they don't "feel" anything immediately. - The Guru/Teacher Dilemma: There is a fear of being misled by "spiritual influencers". - Skepticism vs. Openness: It is difficult to reconcile a scientific upbringing with spiritual experiences. 4. Advanced Obstacles - The "Self-Centered" Trap: Advanced practitioners can become focused on their own "awakening," losing touch with community. - Pathological Restlessness: There is a feeling that there is always "one more" level to reach.
Don't Wait Until You're Ready
One of the biggest traps on any spiritual path is waiting until you feel ready. Ready sounds responsible, but most of the time it’s just fear wearing a nicer coat. If I had waited until I felt confident, clear, or fully prepared before starting my journey, I would still be standing at the starting line. In the beginning, you’re not supposed to have it figured out. You’re not supposed to look smooth or sound wise or move gracefully. You’re supposed to begin. Readiness does not precede growth. It follows it. Early steps are awkward by design. You stumble. You trip. You get it wrong, then get up and try again. That clumsiness isn’t a sign you’re failing. It’s proof you’re alive inside the process. Movement is what teaches you. Motion is what sharpens awareness. Waiting keeps you frozen in imagined futures and recycled doubts. Starting places you in reality, where learning actually happens. So don’t wait for permission, certainty, or confidence. Step forward as you are. The path doesn’t open when you’re ready. It opens when you move. Read the full blog post here: https://www.hemispherelearning.ca/post/the-myth-of-being-ready-why-waiting-is-the-real-risk
