Dislocated both shoulders by 25… here’s what I wish I knew earlier
By the time I was 25, I’d dislocated both shoulders. Not from sports. Not from the gym. But from years of manual labour—laying bricks, lifting heavy, working above my head all day with no real thought about how I was moving. At the time, I thought, “it’s just part of the job.” Pain, tightness, niggles—they just come with the trade, right? But looking back, it wasn’t the work itself that did the damage. It was poor movement, weak stabiliser muscles, and no proper recovery. Since then, I’ve spent years learning how to train smart—building strength around the joints, improving mobility, and actually reversing a lot of the wear and tear. That’s why I’m so big on injury prevention, especially for blokes in the trades. Because it’s not about being “soft”—it’s about staying in the game for the long run.
