Valentino
I spent my brother's birthday dinner with my inexpensive Valentino watch. I had a blast, except the fact that I ate too much! ๐Ÿ˜‚

July was an interesting month, I really had no Idea who the winner was. It ended up being the black Erebus Ascent in 1st, Longines Hydroconquest in 2nd and a 9 way tie for the 3rd spot. This month was all about wearing the watch that I'd been thinking about.

Weekly Watch Lover Member Shoutouts โŒš๏ธ
Watch lovers, here are a few standout posts from the Watch Lover community this week. ๐Ÿ‘ Big shoutout to @Jeff Wilkinson for โ€œWOTD Part Deux: That New Watch Smellโ€ and the detailed story behind choosing the Tissot Carson after searching for a specific Le Locle configuration. The journey, decision-making, and excitement of a new arrival made it a standout collector post. Post: https://www.skool.com/watch-lover/wotd-part-deux-that-new-watch-smell ๐Ÿ‘ Shoutout to @Warren Money for โ€œBest $3 I've ever spent.โ€ and the custom strap transformation for his world-time watch. It showed how a small, affordable change can completely renew the enjoyment of a piece and sparked a huge conversation. Post: https://www.skool.com/watch-lover/best-3-ive-ever-spent ๐Ÿ‘ Shoutout to @Jeffrey Plotka for โ€œWatch of the Day โ€” The Grail ๐Ÿ˜ŽโŒš๏ธโ€ and the personal story behind his white-gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona. He explained why the watch earned โ€œgrailโ€ status, giving members more than just a beautiful watch photo. Post: https://www.skool.com/watch-lover/watch-of-the-day-the-grail ๐Ÿ‘ Shoutout to @Craig Stevenson for โ€œShowing Off My Scurfa M.S.26 Diver One- Day 3 of 3โ€ and for giving the community a closer look at a distinctive diver over a multi-day feature. The consistent sharing created useful exposure for a watch that members may not see every day. Post: https://www.skool.com/watch-lover/showing-off-my-scurfa-ms26-diver-one-day-3-of-3 ๐Ÿ‘ Shoutout to @Brett Sutton for โ€œWOTD- Submariner Sunday August 16th: Rolex Submariner Dateโ€ and the simple, real-world wrist shot from the pee-wee football fields. It was a great reminder that well-loved watches belong in everyday life, not only in the watch box.

WOTD โ€” A Little American Watchmaking on the Wrist ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโŒš๏ธ
Today Iโ€™m wearing my RGM x Teddy Baldassarre Model 501-Teddy. This is still a relatively new watch in my collection, but I have to sayโ€ฆIโ€™ve really been enjoying it. One of the things Iโ€™ve been trying to do more of as my interest in watches continues to evolve is look beyond simply whata watch is and spend more time understanding how it was made, who made it, and the craft behind it. That is a big part of what drew me to this one. The watch is a collaboration between Teddy Baldassarre and RGM Watch Co., founded by American watchmaker Roland Murphy in Pennsylvania. The centerpiece is that beautiful multi-piece blue dial with hand-cut engine-turned guillochรฉ, followed by a blue galvanic treatment. In person, the dial has considerably more depth and texture than I think photographs can really capture. Underneath is the RGM/Schwarz Etienne ASE 200 automatic movement with an 86-hour power reserve, visible through the sapphire caseback. But specs are really only part of why I like it. At 39mm and only 10mm thick, it wears beautifully. It has enough presence that it doesnโ€™t feel delicate, but it disappears on the wrist in a way that some of my larger watches simply donโ€™t. The Jean Rousseau alligator strap has also turned out to be exceptionally comfortable. And I think that may be what Iโ€™m enjoying most about this watch. It has all sorts of interesting details for the watch nerd in me to study โ€” the guillochรฉ, the movement finishing, the small seconds, the architecture of the dial โ€” but once itโ€™s on the wrist, itโ€™s simply a really enjoyable watch to wear. As I spend more time learning watchmaking myself, I find watches like this becoming increasingly interesting to me. There is something special about wearing a watch where the human craft behind it is so visible. Todayโ€™s choice also happened to work pretty nicely with a blue Tuesday. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
