Incredible Question
I had an important question submitted: "The idea of letting go the need for sleep and accepting whatever the night brings is refreshing and helpful to calm anxiety. In this world of acceptance of whatever the night brings, however, how do you measure progress--I imagine it is not by the time slept or time slept vs time in bed? So, how to get a sense if this letting go is working?" Thanks for asking this! This is exactly right, measuring our progress through time slept or time spent in bed is the opposite metric we are looking for. This comes in time as we continue to foster more peace, ease, presence. Good Sleep is the product of a regulated nervous system. So a good way to measure this is checking in with how you feel. "Do i feel more peaceful or at ease?" This is a great question to stay close to. Because the changes are incremental it can sometimes be hard to tell but over time you'll be able to notice. The more peaceful you feel, will ultimately turn into better quality and more time sleeping. Because i don't recommend sleep trackers I also suggest to look at how rested I felt that day and how my mood was. This will tell you more than any tracker. Hope this helps🙏

@Linda Plante Yes, he has been a "gift" to me as well as I learned this valuable lesson (tool) early on and it has made all the difference in my sleeping issues. I no longer fear going to bed at night; I trust that my body will give me what it was designed to do at birth - sleep🙌🙏👍

Wins are that I'm falling asleep faster and am not even aware of the time in between; no more anxiety in the waiting 🙌 I am sleeping better in general than I have in years, though there is still work to be done. I would love to sleep longer some nights and get a productive sleep, but I'm joyful overall! I'm on the verge of making a somewhat difficult decision regarding my job, so here's the challenge at this moment (feels uncomfortable and confrontational, and "sticky - love that word 😂). I'm more ready for this challenge than I would ever have been if it weren't for the guidance and grace that @Daniel King has given me in the work we do together 💫 My nervous system has found a new level of calm that carries over into all areas of my life now, so with gratitude again, I thank you Daniel 🙏

I received a Question About Red Light & Sleep
In my Inner Circle group for sleep we were talking about red light so I wanted to share it here too: When we talk about red light, there is Red Light Therapy and then simple red light bulbs with very different purposes. I'll start with the bulbs. I am a big fan of very dim lighting in the house a few hours before bed. For the rooms that don't have this feature, and for my bedside lamp, I use red light bulbs. The red light bulbs on the market are a soft spectrum of redlight that don't interfere with melatonin production. Here's the low wattage red light bulbs i've been using. LINK Now as far as red light therapy, they use different spectrums of light and far more power to penetrate the body more deeply. But their are alllll sorts of claims on it's benefits: recovery, energy, sleep, skin, etc. and I don't think there's enough data to say that this is clearly helpful for sleep so I'm not suggesting it. I own one because I have found it to support my energy/recovery while also feeling extra calming to meditate in front of in the morning. The uses for sleep vary and some protocols call for evening use while others say morning. If you are curious, this is the product I use after lots of research but looks like they are more expensive these days. LINK What I believe is more effective for sleep than red light therapy is getting outside within 20 minutes of waking up, for at least 15 minutes, which is 1 sleep hygiene protocol I follow every day.

I follow your morning suggestion to get outside in the sunshine asap after waking, for upwards of 45 minutes most days now. I listen to my favorite music 🎶 while I sip my tea 🫖 or coffee. I try to incorporate some gentle movement (stretching) as well; some mornings I’m even moved to dance around barefoot on my lawn, adding some grounding to the mix. Now that this is routine for me, I look forward to it and miss it when I’m not able to do so ✨🌿🌞🌱

I love this and it makes so much sense. Also, i appreciate the tools that you suggest here, not only an explanation of what we might experience. The background story is somewhat helpful, but without knowing how to handle this scenario (tools, exercises, practices), it may not actually be totally resourceful. As always, I appreciate you 💫🌿🫶
