I received a Question About Red Light & Sleep
In my Inner Circle group for sleep we were talking about red light so I wanted to share it here too: When we talk about red light, there is Red Light Therapy and then simple red light bulbs with very different purposes. I'll start with the bulbs. I am a big fan of very dim lighting in the house a few hours before bed. For the rooms that don't have this feature, and for my bedside lamp, I use red light bulbs. The red light bulbs on the market are a soft spectrum of redlight that don't interfere with melatonin production. Here's the low wattage red light bulbs i've been using. LINK Now as far as red light therapy, they use different spectrums of light and far more power to penetrate the body more deeply. But their are alllll sorts of claims on it's benefits: recovery, energy, sleep, skin, etc. and I don't think there's enough data to say that this is clearly helpful for sleep so I'm not suggesting it. I own one because I have found it to support my energy/recovery while also feeling extra calming to meditate in front of in the morning. The uses for sleep vary and some protocols call for evening use while others say morning. If you are curious, this is the product I use after lots of research but looks like they are more expensive these days. LINK What I believe is more effective for sleep than red light therapy is getting outside within 20 minutes of waking up, for at least 15 minutes, which is 1 sleep hygiene protocol I follow every day.
