Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians!
This weekend is Canadian Thanksgiving and it's really such a lovely time of the year to be thankful - the leaves on the trees are gorgeous shades of yellow, orange, and red, the sun is shining, and the farmers markets are bountiful! It's also the time of year I am so grateful to have a healthy, happy family and the ability to pursue entrepreneurship so that I can be more present for them. Alongside that, I am forever grateful for this amazing community and all of you who make it the warm, welcoming, and collaborative place that it is. The vibe her is one-of-a-kind, and so many people who join comment immediately that it feels like a great space - and that is all because of you! A few days ago, I accidentally allowed in someone who I shouldn't have. This person sent hundreds of spam messages using AI. Two amazing things happened as a results. First, three different people immediately reported the comments to me so that I could take fast action and ban him from the group. But also what occurred to me was that his comments were so easy to spot because they were so different from the usual lovely comments that are authentic and genuine and full of real connection. I appreciate so much how you all show up here every day posting authentically about how you are able to help others and then commenting on each others posts with genuine interest and questions. Running a group of this size is not easy, and I really depend on the vigilance of the group to help me keep it the safe space it is. I also really appreciate how the majority of you take it upon yourselves to make sure that you are following the community guidelines so that we don't have to do as much enforcing. So, on this lovely October Sunday, thank you and I hope you have a lovely day no matter where you are in the world. ❤️Shannon

@Eric William Go to the root ... Indigenous people came first. My grandfather was Native American of the Cherokee Nation. We don't celebrate what they call Thanksgiving. ✨🪶

😃 Happiness vs. Satisfaction: Is There a Formula for Both?
Have you ever noticed that you can be pretty happy day-to-day… yet still not feel completely satisfied with your life? I’m actually pretty good at feeling happy in everyday moments. Coffee. Training. Loki being adorable.😻 A walk outside. Good food. A conversation I love. And yet, when I zoom OUT and evaluate my life as a whole? I often feel far less satisfied. Which got me thinking about the difference between happiness and life satisfaction. They’re not quite the same thing. Happiness is largely about how good you feel in the moment. Life satisfaction is more about how you evaluate your life compared with how you thought it would—or should—look. Which means you can have a LOT of genuinely happy moments... and still think, “I should be further ahead by now.” Or, “I really imagined MORE.” Mo Gawdat shares a simple formula for happiness: ✅ HAPPINESS = Reality – Expectations When reality meets or exceeds expectations, we tend to feel happier. When our expectations race ahead of reality, dissatisfaction creeps in. That made me wonder whether life satisfaction needs a slightly different formula. Maybe something like: ✅ SATISFACTION = Reality – Expectations + Gratitude + Recognised Progress. Because it’s incredibly easy to miss how much is already GOOD when we’re focused on the distance between where we are and where we expected to be. And there’s another fascinating little trick our brains play on us... The Fading Affect Bias. Negative emotions associated with memories tend to fade faster than positive ones. I can look back fondly on periods of my life that I KNOW I wasn’t particularly satisfied with while I was living them. Which makes me wonder... Am I living through something RIGHT NOW that future-me will look back on and think, “That was actually pretty great”? And if so... Could I notice a little more of it now? 💛 A tiny experiment for today: Take 60 seconds and find: - ✨ ONE thing that is better than you once hoped it would be. - 🌱 ONE thing you’ve made progress on that you rarely give yourself credit for. - 😆 ONE completely ordinary thing that’s actually pretty great when you stop and notice it.

@Jeffery Melvin Hello Jeffrey and thank you for the message! Yes, I thought exactly of this issue when I first started my community for women survivors of child sexual abuse. I realized there is really not many options for for men who have experienced the horrific lifetime trauma of being a CSA survivor. And unfortunately, there are increasing numbers of men suffering this trauma. But my experience of being a woman survivor, is best for me to have a community of women who relate to our issues. I was hoping that a male CSA survivor would also create a community for men to share their experiences of this trauma and offer support to each other. I'm sure there should be a resource out there somewhere, since it is so important I would be interested if you find that. Thank you so much and have a beautiful day full of peace and blessings! 💜🙏🏼✨🦋

@Kate Galli Ooooh Loki is such a beautiful boy!! He definitely LOVES being your desk assistant ... and always there for a snuggle break. Yes, he may just be a shy kitty around other people ... but he certainly is comfortable to being the guardian of your space. He is super happy there! 😻💞 I'm so happy that you finally got your big workdesk back in place. That must make your work days much easier. 🙏💫

Most people think eating more plants means surviving on rabbit food. Frankly...that's 🐂💩 I'm Jenny. Professional chef, health nerd, and founder of Rooted & Wild. I lost 60+ pounds, reversed my insulin resistance, and dropped my A1C from 6.9 to 5.0 eating real, whole-food, plant-based meals that actually taste amazing. Around here we make BOMB comfort food, focus on meal prep that doesn't suck, and recipes that don't require a scavenger hunt through the health food store. No diet culture. No food guilt. No sad-ass salads pretending to be dinner. Just colorful food, live cooking workshops, kitchen hacks, and a community full of people who love good food and don't take themselves too seriously. If you've ever looked at a recipe with 37 ingredients and thought, "Yeah... absolutely not," you're probably my kind of people. Come hang out. We have potatoes. 🌿🥔 ANNNNNND ask me how I turn potatoes into chocolate ice cream 🍨

LOVE THIS!! @Jenny Rader-Bakos is an amazing human who ROCKS the plant-based/vegan kitchen! She's now hosting some live workshop challenges that will definitely change the way you think of "food". 🌱✨ 🧆 🥙 ** Jenny: you need to include your "direct link" inside your post. Right now there is no link. Make sure they don't need to search for your group through your profile or Discovery ... ONLY your direct link! This should be it: Rooted & Wild https://www.skool.com/rooted-wild-1016/about

@Jenny Rader-Bakos Of course ... just wanted to make sure that people will join your group through the direct link, so you won't need to give 30% to Skool network. 🫶✨🦋
