What’s your biggest challenge learning guitar so far?
one huge challenge for me was making clean chord changes while staying in time. Specifically with some barre chords. Playing a song, you might hit trouble spots where you don't get to the next shape fast enough, so you drop the rhythm for a moment while resetting the fingering. I

Being more of a piano player, I usually apply theory to the guitar when I can!

@Ronald Parada sounds like a plan. About 20 years ago, I used to teach piano lessons. Extra money, mostly beginners and little kids. I can't comprehend how people take piano lessons online. There is tons of musician information out there. When it comes to lessons though, you need someone sitting next to you , guiding you.
Pedals
I’m looking for opinions for my grandson’s birthday present this year. He wants pedals. I’m trying to find the right pedals for a 12 year old? Do I go with some individual pedals or a single multi-effects pedal?? If I choose one or the other, which ones should I choose for him?? Opinions please!!!

I recommend the Zoom G6. This unit has many built-in sounds. User friendly and extremely programmable. I've been playing in a multi-genre band for about 5 years now. This paddle is really all I need.
Fender Strat
I was using a Squire telecaster for about 2 years. That was the sound I needed playing in a multi genre band. For the money, the guitar was okay. About 3 or 4 months ago I bought a real fender Stratocaster with a maple neck and Seymour Duncan pickups. Not a common guitar, but it does give you the ability to go from a clean to a dirty sound. This model actually has locking tuners. Extremely easy to change strings, no revolutions necessary. Playing regular 3-hour gigs, I rarely have to retune. The squire on the other hand, I needed to check constantly. It was probably the inexpensive tuning machines on it.

I have a friend who is an extraordinary blues guitarist. He can make a cigar box sound good. He owns a few Monoprice guitars. All he did was, he changed the pickups on them . He told me that the electronics on them are very good for the money.

@Christian Lie I think some of the squire telecaster affinity models do. Also, The fingerboard is important. Not sure what the material is on a Squire.
Guitar addiction
Does anyone else suffer from buying guitars when they are way underpriced? I know I have enough guitars, but it’s so hard to turn down a super deal. Please tell me I’m not alone. Lately I’ve made a promise to myself that for every guitar I buy, I have to sell one. My latest buy, an Ibanez Acoustic Electric on FB Marketplace for $50. In return I sold my prized Gretsch for $450.

I'm 62, I'm mainly a piano player (Nord Stage 3). I play guitar on approximately half of the songs that my band plays. I've purchased numerous guitars in the past. I've owned a 1982 Gibson Les Paul standard. I've had it for many years. There's not much praise about that model. It's just that it's the wrong kind of sound and it's something like 20 lb. Still have it but can't really use it. I also own a telecaster acoustic electric. For the songs I use that in, it definitely plays great, and has a great sound. So let me give you my opinion as far as the inexpensive guitars. Some of them might play fairly decent. I think it all depends. I have a friend that actually buys monoprice claiming the electronics are good. He just replaces the pickups on them. About 5 years ago , I purchased the Squire Telecaster. That is just the sound that I needed. It was okay. I decided to buy an actual Fender Telecaster, a real one. I must say, there's no comparison. Besides the pickups, it's the maple neck that really makes a difference. As you get older, you'll realize that the inexpensive guitars Don't really compare.
Guitar strings
I've been using Elixirs for a while now. 10-56. I like them better than the Ernie Ball. Since I use a telecaster, I was actually thinking of going up a gage.

Can someone tell me what the proper gauge for a Rickenbacker 325 short scale would be?
