We talked about everything from harvesting tons of castings and cocoons to muddy bedding, simplifying when you have too many bins, breeder bin success, precompost heat cycles, and using aged animal manure in a worm farm. Shoe Box Bin - 6.5qt 100-ish worms Feeding food scraps How much food would you tell the kids running the experiment to use? Obviously we're going to start small, but how small? Would it be realistic to do it by weight? I'd kind of like to see how many pounds of scraps they eat over 9 weeks. Would you do more worms? (Worms are cheap right now at the Bin There Worm Farm!) There will be one bin for every 4ish kids to take care of, so we'd probably get to a couple pounds over that timeframe I'd think.... I've just never done a shoebox and fed scraps. Thought some of you might have better realistic ideas.

Pictured is the skeleton of "Little Ben" It's 17 inches wide, 62 inches long and 42 inches high. A floor will be installed 16 inches from the top and pond liner will be used to create another large worm bin. One of my favorite things about worm wrangling has been repurposing things, this was a platform style bedframe that I've not used in 3 years and cant find anyone that wants it so instead of a bonfire it's gonna be "Little Ben" worm bin. 😁🪱💩😁
