Sifting 1/12 inch worm castings
Here is a video about sifting 1/12 inch worm castings. The most common size I'll use is 1/8 inch, but sometimes people want that more premium feel. I feel like I'm spoiling my plants a little extra when I use the 1/12 inch. Not necessary! 1/4 and 1/8 inch are perfectly fine. Just depends on how chunky of a finish you want your worm castings to have!

Rabbit and Chicken Poop question
Hello, I wondered if chicken or rabbit poop are okay to use in worm bin?

Rabbit poop is fine and is considered a “cold” manure and the worms love it! Chicken manure is fine but recommended to age or hot compost first.

What Do You Use For Fertilizer With Your Castings ?
I have spent a bit of time today resetting 8 bins and harvesting and sifting around 10 gallons of castings. While doing that I started to wonder what fertilizer(s) our fellow members are using once you have put castings, or casting tea into your gardens or container plantings. What Organic Fertilizer/Feeding have you had success with and suggest for plants that require feeding every few weeks? I have had some say use Miracle Gro 20-20-20, but I figure if I am spending the time to make the world's best soil amendment, why negate it with a chemical fertilizer ?

@Jason Evans I agree with this Jason! I think the initial start is high, but then you amend it a few times year to keep it going. Love that you are so knowledgeable in this kind of stuff!!

@David Humphrey azomite is a fantastic amendment! Adds tons of trace minerals. They say to add it once a year to your soil but I just took this urban farmer course and she said honestly it’s a one time add. It lasts forever. I do azomite in my worm bins so then it comes out in the castings. Then I use the castings in the soil 😊
🌡🥵 heat wave
Our shop was sitting at about 85°f around noon. Since the hottest part of the day was upon my squiggly pals, ice packs were placed to get them through the most brutal part of the day 🧊 How is everyone else doing?

Very creative! That’s what you have to do is work with what you have. Your set up is so awesome!!
