Did this one the other day and, the headlights were in rough shape. The owner told me new headlights from the Dealer were $6K. Several others had told him they couldn't be salvaged as the damage was internal. Rather than buy new ones, he was going to have them removed, sent off to have them disassembled and reassembled with new plastic lenses. That process was going to take 2 weeks and cost over $1000, not including removing and installing the headlights. As a last resort, he called me. I started with 400 and worked my way up, double sanding for each grit, one with the power tool and one hand sanding. It took almost 2 hours to finish, but afterward he was so happy he commented about the job on the Porsche Macan Forum and added my contact info and website. Since then, I have 2 more 911s scheduled for next week. Good news spreads fast!!! Here is a before and after... His wife was over the moon with the results.

Question for the Group: What is the lowest grit sandpaper you've used for headlight restoration... and not regretted it? I'm stuck at 400 and only use that occasionally. Just wondering if it's advisable and safe to go lower. If you used lower, please specify if that was using a power tool or sanding by hand. Thanks in advance for your response.
