Editing help
Hello everyone! Been a part of the community since Nov/Dec last year. First time posting so please be gentle and hopefully supportive! :-) I have purchased a few Codex's from Dana and I grabbed 4 this weekend (between server crashes!) and I am wanting to know the best way to do. I have used Claude Sonnet 4.5 with the codex files in a project. I also do have Novelcrafter as well. I am able to get a first draft of a novel done. However, then when it comes to editing I get so lost in the weeds!! I find that Chat and Claude will suggest edits. I tell them to do them and then it seems to get better. I then read and listen to the book and there are things that are off...like timelines, and remembering what happened previously. I have a romcom that they are talking on the phone, she finds out he is a school teacher in one chapter, then finds it out again in 2 or 3 chapters after that. Seems like most of the story is her just learning he is a teacher and I am like yelling at my computer, YOU KNOW THIS ALREADY. So then I hope maybe Novelcrafter will help with the "rereading 650 words of the previous chapter". I have 2 drafts and I ask Chat and Claude which one wins...it picks the one with the constant learning issue. UGH. I purcahsed Dana's NC course and did watch it. During it, she mentioned that she takes it a chapter at a time and doesn't do much if any editing...i was like HOW!! Is there anyone with some magic prompts or a easy to follow process. I have a handful of purchased Codex's and I would like to get these written and ready to publish quicker. I may just watch the NC course again from Jan but I am feeling like I am spinning my wheels here!

First, I feel your pain. I haven’t gotten started with NC yet so I can’t help there. Like others mentioned, I edit as I go. Then before I start a new section or chapter I make sure in my prompt with my beats to do a quick recap of important continuity aspects of the story (in chapter 2 we covered blah blah. In 3 we revealed blah blah.) It helps but it isn’t full -proof. Sometimes I have to say WTF Claude- we covered this babe.
Covers
So I actually bought my first covers - someone in either here or FB no clue told me to look at this group so here it is: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1KXCZ3o9bs/?mibextid=wwXIfr And here are the covers I got. For my ideas - these work perfect

Thanks for the suggestion! Just curious did you join with your personal profile? I tried joining and wasn’t approved.

@Taylor H poo. I know my current cover isn’t hitting target market but I can’t seem to use AI to get what I want either. I know some photoshop but no mad skills here to swap faces and make a hunky man into a monster 🤣. I might try and watch some tutorials and up my game. I have been tempted to try GetCovers for the heck of it but I have heard mixed reviews and it can take awhile to get what you want.
ChatGPT for Images and Book Covers?
Yesterday I got an idea in my head for a series. I brainstorm with chat - and we come up with 5 books for the series - all the basics and I took it over into Antigravity today to write. But I like to see the covers of what I'm writing. I asked chat to make them in the same chat I was brainstorming in.

I am seeing better results with Chat for covers than Ideogram. Maybe I suck at Ideogram but I swear it hates me. I might cancel my subscription to it for now. I got better results doing a mix of MJ and Chat for my recent covers.

@Dana Sacco I can see using it for YT for sure. Maybe when I get to the point I am ready for YT I will pick it back up. I have been paying for it but not using it. It is probably my prompting <sigh>.
When to start a new series
I know this varies for those who can rapid-release or multitask, but I realistically produce one book every 4–6 weeks. For those writing continuous series, how many books do you bank before letting yourself start something brand new? I’m currently on Book 3 of a planned 6-book run (interconnected standalones), but I’m getting squirrelly about a new idea. I’d love to hear how you handle this. Specifically if jumping between series worked for you or if it killed your momentum.

@Dana Sacco yeah I mean I have it mapped for 6 but could easily stop after 4. I’ll see how it goes. I definitely think the tropes/story of my next series will be popular.

@Yvonne Zimmermann I would love to get to the no more than 30 days mark. I mean I am not far off but unfortunately my husband isn’t on board with me quitting my job to write all day just yet. I have to have a few 000000000 behind those page reads. 🤣
I HAVE A CHAIR!!!
Ok y’all might not see this as exciting - but this means I’m set up for Thursday & beyond Interesting thing is I loaded AG up on my desktop and projects do NOT automatically come over….
