I lost a screw in my other new pair of glasses so I had to run out and get them fixed. I threw on the green brocade waist coat, the vintage batwing tie and the Gorin Bros. Narrow Brim to leave the house and go to the shop. And of course I had to wear the sunglasses as the other pair needed repair.

Fedora season is finally here in Wisconsin. One of my favorites is this early 1950s Knox Foxhound fedora which was more aimed at a sporting outdoor style. The ribbon is not the typical satin as found on a dress fedora, but rather a very wide yellow/orange ground that helps break up the substantially high crown. The fur felt is extraordinary in a toupe color. Paired with a vintage harris tweed action jacket, with back vents made for easier shooting, gentleman hunting or an afttenoon of Skeet shooting. Vintage Robert Talbott ancinet madder tie. As an older gent, when wearing this style of glasses and this outfit I have a very strong, erie and uncomfortable resemblance to my grandfather circa 1955. But I am bravely posting anyway.

In keeping with my push to wear bow ties more often my choice today is a Brooks Brothers black and red rep. Brooks Brothers pocket square adding a bit of color with the same red but navy edging. Grey button down with my Loro Piana Prince of Wales blazer, black waist coat and trousers. I believe a bow tie looks best with a sweater vest, waist coat or a double breasted or three button jacket to pull your eye upwards verses having a long expanse of shirt and an open sport coat.

. Today chose a Merino wool lighter weight Italian blazer, seven fold rep tie, a lighter cream trouser and greyish loafers. Accesories are my Swedish heritage lapel pin with the Swedish flag and a slightly showing pocket square that bring all these colors together
