Anyone growing anything over winter?
You will have already started winter plants off, so do you have anything on go? I only have some purple kale and winter lettuce varieties. I think i might do some mustards. I do have perennial kales and welsh onions in residence too.

I had a bumper of tomatoes grown outside,they were my second year of seeds,lots save in freezer. Runner beans done well.Ive frozen ,pickled and canned for winter. Corn grow well but made a mistake trying the popcorn seeds with the other sweetcorn.Ive learned about the 3 sisters,growing Cherokee beans to dry and letting runners dry to butter beans . Trying to do things for know but seedlings don't look good ,but seedling for winter radishes are looking good. I'll see what else I can do Ive been going foraging and just made blackberry jam and used done rosehip jam. Made elder flower champagne and just done Elderberry vodka.

Do you live in an area with a hosepipe ban?
There are exceptions - check them out on your water company website. I found this on mine, so despite a hosepipe ban from tomorrow, where I live, I am able to continue to use a hosepipe if I wish.

Progress in the gardens
I’ve been blessed this year to spend time in Somerset on a friends land where I am free to garden as I like That’s allowing me to experiment a lot with permaculture, Electro culture, making fertiliser, compost teas and growing a large variety of odds and sods But all of that is great right up till you see your first tomato cucumber and melon break out Feeling like a first time dad 😁👍

Weather extremes
Hi everyone. Im not sure about you, but these weather extremes are exhausting! The brassicas are in their elements,as is everything inside the polytunnel. However we have lost all the fruit on the fruit trees due to the wind (and heat a couple of weeks ago),which is so sad. I wonder if there is going to be a fruit shortage this year? Dont get me wrong, on the flip side, im grateful for all the rain,as the IBC's are filling, and that is precious. How are you all doing so far? are you having similar problems? whats growing well for you and what isnt?

Rain and windy here. Tall peas look ok but blown about, Tomatoes plants and courgettes plants look ok. Strawberry eating by slugs onion bolting . Just hope it stops raining soon.

how is your growing
How are you all doing with your growing? We have been battered with wind, then dry for days on end. We have lost lots of seedlings but are not detered, we still have time to plant replacements. In the polytunnel,all is growing well. We had had our first crop of peas and a few really lovely young courgettes. The tomatoes and peppers are in and a few other bits and bobs. I really feel that polytunnel growing workd best for us down here.......perhaps another tunnel is needed (wanted!)

Rained and rained down south. Some of runners eaten to death. Pleased Tomatoes put out and tied up really well ,slugs don't seem to like them. Sweet corn look sorry for them self. Peas are fine as we had dry weather for sometime ,so it gave them a chance. No Hope if a tunnel.
