Exciting Updates from the Physiology First Fellowship!
Team, We had a truly inspired Physiology First Fellowship meeting last night, as always. The global energy is building, the team is incredible, and everyone is ready to rock and roll! A few exciting updates: We’re officially launching the Physiology First Parents Circle. Beginning next week, we’ll be hosting a live session Monday through Friday at 12:00 p.m. UK time. Each session will feature a short presentation followed by an interactive discussion on the science of health and human potential. Fellowship members who are available will take turns presenting on different topics, inviting parents into the conversation, and helping them become informed, educated advocates for their children’s health. We kick things off next week with our first five topics. Also, congratulations to Joel, who had an outstanding meeting with local school officials today and has secured an opportunity to bring both the Physiology First approach and his incredible performance mindset work into the Swedish school system on a daily basis! An amazing achievement and a testament to his passion, commitment, and hard work - and to what this community is building. Finally, The Code of Potential begins on August 16, with parents already joining us from Singapore, Australia, and around the world. Exciting times! Thank you all for being part of this movement. Onwards. ~ David and Physiology First

Lesson Two: How to Choose the Right Breathing Exercises for Your Body
We breathe ourselves into the shape we're in. Imagine molten lava shaping the landscape after a volcano. Each breath that we take creates changes in our internal landscape. From the position of our ribs to the pressures inside our chest, back and belly our breath shapes the architecture of the human body. Try the two exercises in this video. Notice which one seems to have the greatest impact on helping you breathe into parts of your body that you may not have experienced. The most rebellious act in a culture desensitized to itself is learning to feel fully. Share your experience with the group!

When I first did this with you a year ago, I was amazed, I had never felt the movement of my back ribs, I used to do body pump classes years ago, so lots of back squats, I had never done front squats. I find both versions ok now but probably prefer the second position.
Breathing class
I didn’t even start my Facebook group, but I did a quick poll on my IG, because I was too excited to start and wanted to keep myself accountable, and I’m starting to get responses! Planning for September because schedule doesn’t allow with the kids this summer, but now I’m trying to find a space. I will also join a local community meetup for business owners. This group is new and very active in wanting to help grow the community. I know I’ll meet amazing people which will lead to great opportunities. Exciting things are coming :) For those of you who are planning to lead the breathing or strength classes, how did you get or rent a space? Do you have your own? Thank you 🙏🏼

I run my breathing session in the park, uk weather means it does get rained off sometimes. I started it in June last year and after a few weeks the local radio station picked up on it and asked me to go in and talk about breathing. It was just a 5 minute thing, but it led to a local care home offering me a space to use over the winter, which was great. So reach out to local media, local businesses, offer a free talk, mention you need an indoor space for free or a small cost. I am now running classes and workshops from a new therputic space which is rooted in community and connection and and I can use that this coming winter, so its worth approaching yoga studios or gyms and asking because it can potentially bring new customers in for them.
Foundations of Breathing
I've been really focusing on nasal breathing for the past couple of weeks. What I've loved most is feeling fully present and connected to my body as I feel my breath moving through it. Whether I'm out for a walk with my baby and toddler, working at my desk, or actually working out, I feel much more in tune with my senses and my body's movements, which brings me to the present moment. Essentially as I've become more aware of my breathing, I've also been able to focus more intently on what I'm doing and the people I'm with.

Completely agree about nasal breathing, and mouth taping at night has been life changing for me. To be able to maintain a lip seal while sleeping so you don’t need tape, you need to work on tongue strength and mobility, if you can get your tongue to remain suctioned to roof of the mouth, it creates a negative pressure in your mouth keeping your lips closed. Some people also need to work on the muscles around the lips too. I struggle with this because my palate is too narrow to fit my tongue. I can do it sometimes, waking with a sore tongue where it’s been pressed on my teeth.
Welcome to our new Health Mentors!
Team, I'm honored to introduce @Aaron Oshea , @Morgan Bienhoff , @Katie Buchanan , @Laleh Masjedi and an incredible crew of Health Mentors that haven't logged on yet as I just sent out the welcome email. Every day this week we're going to dive into an element from the Foundations of Breath module - a great opportunity to refresh your knowledge if you've been on the platform for a while, ask questions, and share success stories in implementing in your community! I know @Rachel Campling has been doing an INCREDIBLE job with her weekly breathing classes, @Amy Champion just opened her new location, @Sue Murphy has some exciting updates re: school collaborations in N.J and @Darren Bailey is starting his weekly running group soon. We have a very exciting update from myself and @Alessandra Farach about a pioneering new program in Guatemala coming soon! Welcome again to our new team members! Looking forward to diving deeper into the Foundations of Breath together this week - and to seeing you at our Tuesday night book club, Thursday live class with Coach @Amy Stackhouse and our first live webinar for the Health Mentor Program on Thursday at 8pm UK if you're able to join!

I started running a weekly breathe with me class in the local park last June, its small but its helped me massively, with teaching what I have learnt, and actually taking the time to stop and breathe. The non guided 20 minute session really is an amazing tool for nervous system regulation, its so simple, buts thats all you need, its not always all about doing a certain type of breathwork. Its also realky helped a few people in the community, real life changing help towards better breathing. Now I am running functional breathing workshops and classes in a local community wellbeing space, including fun childrens sessions, teen workshops and adults courses, I am going to be adding some other things along the way to support kids in all aspects of the physiology first approach.
