Native Instruments in Trouble
Hi folks. Looks like NI are in financial trouble. Wonder what that’s going to mean for all of us Kontakt and Isotope users. ???

@Alex Pfeffer Steinberg for sure! They always wanted to really get into the first league of the sampling business with their Halion engine against Kontakt. The problem would be for all izotope and PA users with plenty of licenses (like me). Software licenses are less of an asset but a dependency actually. That's why I can't stop investing in hardware too.

I believe this might have been mentioned in this community before, so apologies if I’m repeating a topic. I’m really curious about real‑world experiences using Notion or n8n to automate audio production workflows. Lately, I’ve been exploring ways to go beyond what standard DAW macros or batch exports can offer. I’m particularly interested in practical setups where automation handles things like exporting and delivering stems or masters, sending files straight to clients or cloud platforms, or triggering automatic conversions, naming, and archiving after a bounce. I’m also looking into how Notion could integrate with n8n to streamline project and revision tracking... imagine a project automatically updating its status in Notion the moment a new mix or master is uploaded. Beyond these, I’ve seen people use automation and AI tools such as ClickUp for workflow approvals, Zapier to link DAWs or cloud storage with client delivery, and even custom Python or Node scripts for repetitive tasks like consolidating sessions or generating streaming‑ready masters. There’s also growing interest in AI‑driven sample library management such as tagging, classifying, and organizing large SFX or music collections automatically. If anyone here has real, hands‑on experiences where these tools (or similar) have genuinely saved time or reduced repetitive work in mixing, mastering, or music production pipelines, I’d love to hear about it. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts, @Sean Walsh , @Dominik Škrabal, and @Alex Pfeffer. Really appreciate you taking the time to join the discussion. In my case, I’m constantly jumping between very different worlds. One day producing audio for a video game, the next mixing a metal album or a synthwave project, then shifting to a TV series, a documentary, a commercial spot, or even managing a casting for voice actors in any of these contexts. With that kind of variety, any tool that can take repetitive, time-consuming tasks off my plate is worth exploring. For me, that could mean automating renders and deliveries straight from a DAW bounce, triggering naming conventions, uploading to client folders, updating project status in Notion when a new mix is ready, or generating archive versions or backups in the cloud without manual intervention. While every client has their own quirks, different servers, comms channels, delivery formats, even partial automation frees up mental space for the creative and technical decisions that matter. I’ll definitely keep exploring. .
Be Warned of this Shocking ChatGPT behavior...It's Screwed Me Repeatedly
Hey guys, 😱 So just a little bit of a rant here and warning to you that even when you REALLY know ChatGPT and set rules with it, and it assures you it will stick to those rules...it won't. It is designed to lie to you and I've had it admit this to me many times. But today I've just hit a frustration level where I just wanted to drop a warning to you all. 👀 Previously, I've figured out how it will lie about things it can do...and worked around it pretty well. i.e. Creating certain file types or templates, or workflows, and I have sniffed out the BS and not had it waste too much of my time. 👉🏻 This caused me to create rules with it where it promised me that if I told it not to lie, it would stop the lie and tell me the truth. ⚡️ Flash forward to the last few days where I caught it again lying to me about analyzing audio files and assuring me it was doing analysis despite me questioning it and telling it I didn't believe it was. It continued to lie. Today it just wasted another 2hrs of my time and this time real money because of it lying. ‼️ ⚠️ So just be warned that even when you have caught it, called it out, had it promise it will be truthful from now on, etc, etc...it will NOT. Full Stop. Hopefully this can save some of you misery and wall-punching fury! For your amusement and education, some receipts. 🧠 AND, the final attachment - written by ChatGPT itself to document and call out its disturbing behavior (I thought that was pretty funny)

Humans lie constantly… and AI just takes notes. Honestly, it would be more surprised if we ever told the truth! 😏 I totally get your frustration, my friend.
Mixing a "hybrid" track
I have a question that I know is not easy to answer, but if anyone has any advice, I would be grateful. Namely, I am interested in how you would generally approach mixing a "hybrid" track (not in the form of a trailer) that consists of different types of pads, atmospheric instruments, hybrid vocals and possibly some synthesizer serving as a low end (in fact, there are almost no standard sampled instruments like pianos, guitars, strings, brass, etc.). I know that the question is unusual and I know that it is impossible to answer specifically and in detail, but as I said... I will be grateful for any advice and tips, or a good video tutorial.

@Sean Walsh Oh yes, I know both the plugin and the Loudness Penalty online tool, but to be honest, I don’t really use it. Cubase Pro’s built-in metering is already so complete that I can constantly monitor LUFS, true peak, etc... and immediately see how hot is my mix/master and how far I am from any platform’s normalization target. That said, I personally don’t mix or master with YouTube, Spotify, or any other streaming platform in mind. For music, I just focus on making it sound right, or as best as I can. Each genre has his typical loudness targets actually. I only care about strict loudness targets when I’m delivering for film or TV, where there are very specific standards I need to be compliance with. And even then, Cubase already gives me all the LUFS and peak data I need in real time, so I rarely feel the need for an external tool. In the professional world, nobody really mix/master according to YouTube’s or any other platform’s normalization algorithms anyway.

@Dominik Škrabal Yeah! It’s the never-ending story: my wishlist keeps growing, and somehow everything goes on sale at the same time. Over the years, I’ve already spent tens of thousands of $$$ on software licenses, from plugins to massive sample libraries, yet there’s always that one more tool I "need". The life of an obsessed audio nerd addict, right?
