One foot edges training
First I would like to say I have pretty good one foot blance, with my trucks on the looser side I can skate half my rink on either side with one foot. The problem i am having using both inside and outside edges on one foot, seen in styles like jb or STL. Now as an intermediate skater I am big on training with skates off, and exercising the muscles I use to skate at the gym. Doing this has taken months of the learning curve, and i was looking for suggestions for training my ankles to handle this sway off skates ? There's no stupid opinions I feel every one can benefit from this. 2 ex. Videos will be posted if unfamiliar with the styles.

Full range of motion exercises for ankles can be done by writing the alphabet in the air with the toes, ankle pumps, and rotations. Add therapy bands to strengthen. Calf raises and toes raises. Balancing on a yoga block. @Kneesovertoesguy might have some good flexibility exercises in his program.
Keeping social media in perspective.
I know you never get to see the hours others put into skating to get as good as they are online. Tough to not compare yourself when you've been out here 6-8 hours a week for 2 years and can't do half the things they are doing. Guess we gotta lock in the training lol.

Back with another one!
Hey all. Itโ€™s been a minute! Work has been kicking my ass! I havenโ€™t been practicing much as I want to but today I made it a point to not only get on my skates but to record some of it. I practiced one leg balance skills, crossovers, open/closed book transitions (still struggling here) and what I THINK are backward crossovers (vide attached so you tell me). As usual I bring for your personal entertainment, my awkward and horrible skating! Donโ€™t go too hard on the kid though. This was my first time practicing this technique. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

@Carrie Morgan send me a video of yourself to see if I can help you out. Remember here I am not concerned about what's happening behind me. Totally different than being at a rink.

@Carrie Morgan let your hips and shoulders square up over the foot that the weight is transferring to (the foot that's crossing)
Off-Skate Work
I saw a post earlier and there were a couple people mentioning the importance of โ€œoff-skateโ€ routines- I like to work on eagle in both directions against a wall to help the flexies and stretch- what are some things yโ€™all are doing off-skate that is proving helpful when you get back in skates?!

@Aleeta Powe preach ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป strength training was a game changer for my skating. I thought I was doing pretty well before but drastically fewer falls and greater confidence has me hooked at the gym.
Narrow feet skate help
I was so excited to get home from work today to have my new sure grip skates oxfords waiting for me. I bought two sizes 8 and 9. The8 was right length but I had so much room in ball of foot and I had the ankle portion laced to touching and still loose.. I am a new skater who used to skate in the 80s. I m looking for a womenโ€™s narrow skate but not cheapies but not a thousand dollars either. Please help.
