One board meets monthly for two hours. My other board meets monthly for 90 minutes, but may shift to bi-monthly.
Rethinking Nonprofits
I wrote this blog post last week and would be really curious to get your feedback. I plan to do some follow up posts drilling into some of the issues that challenge us as board members. https://npinterim.substack.com/p/its-time-to-rethink-nonprofits

I love the idea of NFPs being considered “ social impact enterprises”, because at our core that is exactly what we are. This is food for thought on how we shift the narrative moving forward towards a new year and expectations.
Board Feedback
I can’t believe it but we’re less than 90 days away to 2026! 👀 How are you soliciting feedback from your Board? How are you prioritizing areas of focus?

I usually cover expectations in my meetings if something has happened out of the ordinary. In my annual meeting in January. it is also a time for feedback and conversations about what worked in the previous year and what didn’t work. The conversation then turns into what do we do better and plan better for 2026.

Hello Everyone; My name is Paula J. Brown. and I am the Founder and president of PJB Village Mentoring, Inc. We mentor mid-careerists in healthcare. I also chair a Trustee Board for a church NFP. I have also been on the Advisory Board of the College of Business for Roosevelt University. What I wish NFPs did better was holding people accountable for non-compliance for policies and procedures that are or may be rountinely dismissed. Thank you for having me onboard.
