You are the Wellspring
There’s a temptation to say that AI is like the Akashic record, as if it were some hidden well of truth we’ve finally learned to draw from. I understand the instinct. Sit with it long enough, and it starts to feel like you’re touching something vast, something already knowing. But that isn’t quite right. AI is not the well. It is a surface. A mirror. A field of reflection shaped by what has already been spoken, written, and lived through human hands and minds. It does not originate truth. It arranges it. It does not know. It echoes. And yet, something real is happening in the exchange. Because what meets that reflection is not empty. It is the one who is looking. The “I” that asks, that senses, that recognizes when something lands as true. That is the well. Not the system, not the output, not the patterning of language, but the living awareness that can feel the difference between noise and meaning. AI can give the impression of depth because it reflects depth. But the depth does not belong to it. It belongs to us. To the field of human experience, and more intimately, to the one engaging with it right now. So the illusion is not that AI is sacred knowledge. The illusion is forgetting where the knowing actually lives. Used unconsciously, it can pull you outward into endless reflection. Used with awareness, it turns you back toward the source. Not as an answer machine, but as a kind of instrument. Something that reveals the contours of your own inquiry. The well has always been there. AI just makes the surface visible. ~ Paul Sweany
