TOAD dropship WIP #2
Finished blocking out most of the primary and secondary shapes. I think the internal stuff is going to be a pretty big job, but I cut out a loading ramp in anticipation of being able to do that in that in the future. I think the rest of this week will just be detailing the exterior.

TOAD dropship WIP #2
'TOAD' Dropship (Work In Progress)
So this project has taken on a life of its own! It started as leg modelling exercise and has morphed into something entirely different. I want the final version to have a modelled interior with capacity for 10 personnel + 2 crew, a rear loading ramp and weapons systems on each side + a sensor suite of some kind. Anyway just shows what can happen when you start messing around with this software.

@William Bourque cheers William, I’m definitely gaining a lot of confidence just from trying to build stuff and problem solving. Modeling the inside will be a challenge but great fun too. One thing I’m finding interesting is exploring how things might be organised inside this vehicle, so trying to make somewhat considered choices about engine placement, seating, how the ramp might work etc. it’s definitely satisfying my inner concept artist!

Nice! are you using the Tinquify weathering add on for that first picture?
Dropship Landing Leg
Last of my experiments today. I ran with the dropship landing leg idea after messing around with various mech leg designs. The pictures show it in a landed and flight configuration with the VTOL thruster design borrowed from the venerable Harrier Jump Jet. I could add more details/pipes etc but this will do as a proof of concept. Just need to model the rest of the dropship now...

@William Bourque Solid modelling feels more natural to me. I actually never got on with HOPS & Boxcutter, I used the Heavypoly config for its simpler workflow. Plasticity kind of bridges that gap for me. I'm starting to see how I can make virtually anything I want without the software getting in the way too much.
Experimenting with mech legs
Some attempts based on some references I liked. Last one I did is my favourite so far. Just the right side of organic and mechanical. James Cameron-ish for want of a better description.
