I incorporated the council of you wise artists and eliminated the obstructed view boat and houses focusing only on the beauty of the view. I was hoping to take your eye down the lake to the sun kissed mountains in the background. Anything else to do?

What's Your Biggest Tree Painting Struggle? (Here's What You Told Me)
Hey Artists, A couple of days ago, I asked what your biggest tree painting struggles arecand wow, the response blew me away. Over 60 votes in the poll here, plus over 100 email replies from my list. Same struggles kept coming up again and again: - Foliage that ends up overworked and blobby - Making trees look 3D - Not knowing where to put the light and shadow - Struggling with mixing greens - Just not knowing where to start One person summed it up perfectly: "I can do fairly well with the trunk and limbs, but I struggle with getting the leaves in an organic shape. I can easily end up with lollipop trees." Sound familiar? So I recorded a quick video this weekend, tackling the biggest one — how to paint convincing trees without painting every single leaf. 👉 WATCH VIDEO HERE https://www.loom.com/share/a6f6600f56ec42038e141ff275b55446 And if you prefer to read, I also wrote a full blog post on this: 👉 READ BLOG POST HERE https://samuelearp.com/blog/how-to-paint-trees-and-shimmering-water/ But honestly, this is just the beginning. Next week I'm going even deeper on trees, and I have something specific coming that I think you're going to love. Stay tuned. Drop a comment below. Did any of these struggles resonate with you? 👇 Cheers, Sam

Sea Scape from Sam's tutorial
Hi folks. I am brand new to the Painters Hub. I came upon Samuel Earp’s blog early in 2026. I was immediately captivated by his seascape paintings. Attached is my rendition of Sam’s “How-to-paint-a-dramatic-seascape-in-5-easy-steps”. I would appreciated some constructive feedback.

Wow I can feel the sea spray hitting my face now. Very nice effort.
Scam or not?
Has anyone received an email like this? What's your take on it? "Dear Artist, I recently came across your artwork on Facebook and was truly impressed by your distinctive style. I am an active art collector and would be interested in discussing the possibility of acquiring one or more of your available works. Please feel free to contact me on WhatsApp at +12495148246 so we can discuss details at your convenience. I look forward to connecting with you. Warm regards, Maryam Melissa"

Yes I have gotten them somewhat frequently. I ignore them. I also had someone trying to get me to digitize my paintings and sell them to him. He had an acronym term for it that escapes me now. Does that sound familiar to anyone here?
🎨 Do Your Paintings Look Flat? Here’s the 10-Minute Fix 👇
Hey Artists If your landscapes ever look flat, like they’re missing that sense of real distance, you’re not alone. Most artists try to fix it by adding more detail or doing a chalky glaze with titanium white, but that’s not the real problem. The issue is usually how you use tonal values and contrast, and once you fix that, everything changes. So I made a free 10-minute video that walks you through: 🎯 The simple 3-colour exercise that adds instant depth and realism 🎯 This exercise will help you quickly understand how to create atmospheric depth 🎯 How to make your paintings feel alive It’s short. It’s simple. And it works. 👇 Quick poll — be honest: Do your paintings ever feel a little flat? If you voted “Yes” or “Sometimes,” drop a comment that says “DEPTH” and I’ll send you the free video link right here in the group. Let’s make your next painting the one that stops people scrolling. 👊 Happy painting. Sam

It seems I have been able to step up my art endeavors since I retired in June 2024 after 37 years of employment with a major construction firm.
