I had been doing good for a while getting up at 11 am with alarms and 1 or 2 phone calls from mom. But the last 1.5 wks mom has had to call 30 to 35 times along with alarms before I wake up. Then I have fallen asleep off and on for the whole day. My functional medicine dr thinks the cavitation under a root canal is getting worse. Have referral to get rest of teeth out. Just waiting for them to call me back to schedule extraction. Hopefully after that I can get back to getting sleep schedule more on tract. Just went through time change fall back 1 hr this past weekend. It always throws me off for 3months or more.
I know pills are not the proper way to fix sleep but....
Got a really good question from a member: "I know pills are not the proper way to fix sleep. But what is your take on using light ones like Unisom or similar occasionally?" Taking something like Unisom or Benadryl for sleep seem to have less severe side effects, though long term consistent use their is concern. But that said, I'm not against taking sleeping pills over the counter or prescribed if they actually help. The problem is that it rarely works long term, it doesn't actually improve our sleep architecture and can leave us with new symptoms and the same sleep in the end. The important thing is in the beginning part of this question. That this isn't going to be the long term solution. So my suggestion, is IF sleeping pills are helping we can utilize that window of reprieve to take of ourselves and do some more of this internal work I talk so much about. Sometime we really need a pill because we are so deep in the struggle of sleep issues, i was using them for years, but ultimately something deeper will have to be addressed if we want to put an end to the sleeplessness. @Barbara Beasley so sorry to hear about your kidney problems after the use of Benedryl. I take it at times for allergies but will have to check with my doctor. Sending healing prayers.

I have been using Daniel's suggestion to give myself permission to go to bed/sleep. The last week and have made it to bed 2x at a much earlier time. After talking with Daniel last night on the zoom Q&A, he felt I still had a fear of going to sleep. I added telling myself last night that it was safe to go to sleep and sleep soundly cuz I was safe. Did seem to help. Thanks Daniel.

@Alannah Bolton I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. Daniel has a Q&A Call on Tuesdays normally at 7 cst but there was a time change this week and I was the only one there to begin with so got lots of questions discussed and suggestions made. Be sure to put it on your calander.

Group Call at 5pm MT This Week + Check In
Hey Everyone, I have to move our group call an hour earlier this week due to some conflicts of mine so it will be at 5pm MT. Hope everyone is still able to make it! Either way lets check in and be intentional about our week to come:) What one thing, small or big, do you want to make a shift around this week? Maybe this has to do with your sleep or maybe it something else in your life. (Spoiler: it's all related) Maybe you want to focus on a new practice, deepen your relationship with self, maybe you want to do less. It's all fair game but taking a moment to consider an intention can help us continue to build a healthier mind, body and heart and ultimately better rest. Would love to hear from you below🙏

Thanks Daniel. It was great talking to you earlier. I had 2 set backs this week. But trying to not let them push me off track. I have a really really tough time waking up. I am retired and live a line so no set times . I had been doing really well with waking up when mom called in the morning along with multiple alarms. Monday and 1 other day last week mom called 34 -36 times before I woke up. Luckily I had a late doctor appointment or no appointment. I initially was upset because it took multiple calls again but then I looked at how far I have come. Daniel tonight recommended a vibrating pad to wake me up. Will look into. Thinking maybe my body was fighting fall allergies with farming harvesting and weather change. Now I need to keep working on going to bed earlier. Need to get over fear of sleeping. Give myself permission to go to sleep. Going to try to relax/wind down and get to sleep before 4an-6am. Not looking forward to time change here in central minnesota.Have a restful sleep .😴😴😴😴
