I know pills are not the proper way to fix sleep but....
Got a really good question from a member: "I know pills are not the proper way to fix sleep. But what is your take on using light ones like Unisom or similar occasionally?" Taking something like Unisom or Benadryl for sleep seem to have less severe side effects, though long term consistent use their is concern. But that said, I'm not against taking sleeping pills over the counter or prescribed if they actually help. The problem is that it rarely works long term, it doesn't actually improve our sleep architecture and can leave us with new symptoms and the same sleep in the end. The important thing is in the beginning part of this question. That this isn't going to be the long term solution. So my suggestion, is IF sleeping pills are helping we can utilize that window of reprieve to take of ourselves and do some more of this internal work I talk so much about. Sometime we really need a pill because we are so deep in the struggle of sleep issues, i was using them for years, but ultimately something deeper will have to be addressed if we want to put an end to the sleeplessness. Thanks for you question!
