Time hack that saved me 30-60 minutes every morning ๐Ÿ•
Recently I decided to take a risk on AI and hand over my completely unmanageable personal inbox to Claude. I was getting about 100 emails a day because I signed up for far too much stuff and then spending my time on the treadmill each morning frantically trying to read them all in case I missed a deadline or a school payment for my kids or a genius business idea ๐Ÿ™„. I had a great system - skim read every email so I was at zero each morning (for about a second) and star all the things I needed to go back to... then I decided to host my first bundle, launch a new product and start a new skool membership and I was done ๐Ÿคฏ I realised I couldn't keep up this ridiculous routine of trying to read over 100 emails every morning half of which were just garbage. I decided to hand it over to Claude cowork and see what it could do, I was at the point where if things got 'lost', I didn't care anymore, I could barely see what I had and the time was just sucking the life out of me. When Claude was finished, I had over 1000 'star' items in a folder ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ all that stuff I was tagging because I HAD to read it later... seriously ๐Ÿ™„ I'll probably never use the star again... But I also had all my business newsletters filtering to a specific folder, all my notifications to another one and the best system - A morning email digest in Claude that I can scan in 5 minutes and decide what needs action today without going through 100 emails to get there. I need to refine it but far out its been awesome (and if it has deleted some stuff, well, I don't care ๐Ÿคฃ) What's the one thing eating your time every day that you keep tolerating? ๐Ÿ‘‡

@Niky Egerton love your Cowork experiment! I was surprised when you said Cowork deleted your emails; I was assuming it moved them to your Delete folder, until you said you have Yahoo Mail, not Gmail. I used Cowork similarly to the way you did, asking it to help me organize one of my Gmail accounts. As always, it did a pretty good job. However, it told me it cannot delete the files he marked as 'Delete' - Google will not allow a third party to delete any of the emails. I had to delete them myself. ๐Ÿ˜ข I will try to experiment with asking Cowork to use Chrome to get to my email. Maybe it will work that way. It is fun to experiment!
Experiment #1 Update 8
Day 14. We're at 55. ๐ŸŽ‰ (Earlier today I thought it had been 12 days ๐Ÿซฃ I'm losing track of time!) On Friday night I participated in a Friday Community Crawl (thank you for hosting @Lidia Axe ) - 8 communities, 8 questions, a swag bag of free gifts for anyone who completed the full crawl. My community was one of the stops. 11 new members joined through it. In one evening. This experiment worked. Welcome to everyone who found their way here through the crawl, anyone keen for a challenge is welcome here! ๐Ÿ˜Š Numbers: Members: 55 | Engagement: 76% | Discovery rank: 2,548 | Conversion rate: 13.2% | Days left: 16 | Still needed: 45 The discovery rank has jumped from 3,009 to 2,548 in 4 days. The engagement going up to 76% while we added new members is great but also due to that post urgency of the community crawl challenge so something for me to take away there about that initial engagement on joining... Update on the Meta ad: It flopped. 233 landing page views, approximately 2 signups. And since I added the "where did you hear about us?" question, zero ad-sourced members have come through. My theory: the ad drove cold traffic and to my about page which obviously wasn't enticing enough and its really driven down my conversion rate (originally it was 47.5% now 13.2%). If I run ads again I'd spend more time on the ad creative and the landing page before putting money behind it. Lesson learnt. ๐Ÿ“ I have updated my about page. I posted a request for a roasting in skool and got polite but very helpful feedback so lets see if that helps with conversions. What's working: Showing up in other Skool groups and participating. The challenge now: The crawl created a spike in engagement and interaction on the post which was brilliant. Now I need to think about how I make this community feel that alive on a regular basis? That's the next experiment. Days left: 16 Members needed: 45. Thinking cap on. ๐Ÿงช What are you working on this week to grow your business?๐Ÿ‘‡

I gained 10 members from the Crawl Numbers: Members:30 | Engagement: 70% | Discovery rank: 2027| Conversion rate: 21,7% | Days left: 96 | Still needed: 70 But the category is wrong. They put my Skool in Tech. It should have been AI & Automation
I'll go first โ€” here's my intro ๐Ÿ‘‹
Since I'm asking you all to introduce yourselves, feels only fair I go first. I'm Niky. I live in New Zealand (yes, the time zones are genuinely chaotic ๐Ÿ˜‚), I'm 18+ years into a senior leadership career in the public service, and I'm building my own business, right now, while still fully employed and wrangling a young family. Why am I doing this? Because I've always wanted to work for myself. Because I watched my Dad start businesses growing up and it never left me. And because pouring all this energy into a career where extra hours don't translate into extra reward stopped making sense a while ago. So here I am. Building in public. Sharing every experiment, every mistake, and every win, including the ones that are embarrassing to admit. Your turn. ๐Ÿ‘‡ Drop your intro below, you can use this template if you need it: Hi! I'm [NAME], based in [COUNTRY] and I'm currently [JOB/SITUATION e.g. still in 9-to-5 / side hustle started / recently left]. My biggest challenge with building a business alongside work is [CHALLENGE]. I'm excited to [ONE GOAL]. Canโ€™t wait to hear about you all.

@Niky Egerton you looked up COBOL, ๐Ÿ˜‚ Yes itโ€™s ancient now however our US government is still using it, probably not for long since AI seemed to be taking over. If you are so inclined, here are some more dinosaurs you can look up, I used and taught them - Word Perfect, VisiCalc, Basic programming, Dbase.,, oh btw, my first personal computer was Apple II. Iโ€™m dating myself ๐Ÿคฃ Back in the present time, Iโ€™m teaching individuals who feel left behind by AI and would like to learn and use it in their business or personal life.

@Niky Egerton I figured it is the right time to give back, especially to the people who I believe need to be informed. This is similar to when the World Wide Web started (you probably were not born yet); it took time for most people to embrace it. Now, it looks like everyone is on the WWW. My first encounters: I opened my online store (no Shopify then), got my email from AOL, connected to the WWW by modem using a rotary household phone line (does anyone have those anymore?)
