Your Website Needs to Speak Their Language
I just finished building a website for a composer who wants to focus on video games, and I want to share the thinking behind it. Here's the thing: Video game developers are nerds (in the best way). They spend their days building worlds, characters, and stories. If you want to work with them, you need to fit into that world. So instead of a generic "hire me" composer page, we built something that feels like it belongs in a game. What we did: The headline doesn't say "Professional Composer for Hire." It says: "Your players will pause the game just to listen to this." Instead of a boring bio section, we created a Character Profile — complete with "proficiencies" like Orchestral, Ambience, Combat, Sound Design, Adaptive. You know, like the stat sheets you'd see in an RPG. The call-to-action buttons? "Begin Your Quest" and "Summon Character." The music section is called The Chronicles with a custom player that keeps people ON the page (not sending them off to SoundCloud where they disappear forever). And at the bottom? "Accept the Quest" with a booking calendar. Why this works: When someone clicks a button and starts an action, they psychologically want to finish it. A pop-up form after "Summon Character" feels like the next logical step — not an interruption. Everything stays on ONE page. No maze of subpages. No "click here for film, click here for ads, click here for games, oh and also I do pottery." If you want to work in video games, dress like a video game composer. Go deep into ONE industry instead of spreading yourself thin across everything. If you want a landing page like this - targeted to your specific niche, no monthly fees, no hosting costs, no "powered by" logo anywhere - I will create and set it up for you. $147 one-time. That's it. You own it. Drop a comment, DM me if you're interested, or check out this link to see my services. https://risewithalex.com/ (scroll down to "Your Industry-Specific Landing Page")

Buying VSX?
I have been using Akg K612 Pro for a long time as my main headphone. They are fine in many situations but I always had problems when I have to do mixing and mastering with them. This year I plan to upgrade them. Vsx is catching my attention. I don't know how their headphones sound I would like a open back headphones for home studio though (I think they made a new headphone called Immersion One and it is Planar Magnetic). So I am looking at VSx headphones and also Hifiman Planar Magnetic ones (like anando Nano or something similar). I would love all opinions on this subjects. Btw, I tried Sennheiser Hd 650 . It sounds so similar to my focals Solo be monitors but Low end didn't make me happy on those headphones. Also I didn't invest money on headphone amps, I am using Rme headphone amps on babyface pro fs. I would love all suggestions doesn't make me go bankrupt. Also I would love to hear expensive solutions if it is end game for me?

Accepted to Libraries & Shoutouts!
Hi! Before the end of 2025, I thought I would take the opportunity to make some shoutouts when it comes to people in this community that helped me out on my journey when it comes to applying but also get accepted into two trailer libraries earlier this fall. First off, big thanks to @Andrew Hand who gave me great feedback on my early showreel version that I started to build and create during the summer. Thanks, Andrew :) But Andrew also got me into contact with @Matt McDonnell who offered me 1v1 sessions, when it comes to improving my cues even further, and also very valuable feedback when it comes to my upcoming showreel, and important things to have in mind when sending those application mails to the libraries. Besides that, we've also had great conversations about music and life in general :) Thanks Matt for taking the time, listening to different versions of my cues and giving valuable feedback, but also the support during the whole phase of "putting it all together". And last but not least; thanks to @Alex Pfeffer even though we've never spoken, since he's the man behind this community. Thanks to him I've gotten new knowledge but also inspiration. I wouldn't have found this group of fellow composers in the first place if it wasn't for his YT channel :) Thanks, Alex! I'm now in the work of finishing my first album (horror music), with one of the libraries. Twelve tracks were completed before Christmas, but I'll now go back and start making some revisions and changes here and there due to feedback, and then it's time to deliver those stems(!) Looking forward to what 2026 has to offer, and with that I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! Kind regards, Roger Bergström

Orchestral Tools... FFOSSO??
Orchestral Tools just premiered a video for FFOSSO, a new Spitfire LABS-like software. What do you guys think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SojzHdgbP4M

Do VST Percussions Cause Phase Problems Like Recorded Drums?
Hey friends, We all know that with recorded drums, phase can be a big issue – multiple mics, different distances, frequencies cancelling each other, etc. We flip polarity, nudge tracks, all that stuff. But it got me thinking because I never used polarity(phase) switch on vsts before : What about VSTs and sample libraries? If we layer similar percussion sounds (like two kicks or two snares from different libraries), can they also cancel each other and cause phase problems? I asked ChatGPT about this and the (shortened) answer was basically: - Yes, VSTs can have phase issues when layering similar sounds, especially in the low end. - It’s not about microphones anymore, but about: - Good habits: Now I’m curious: What’s your experience with this? Have you ever had your layered kicks/snares suddenly sound weak or hollow in mono because of phasing? Do you just trust your ears, or do you use specific tools/workflows to avoid it?

@Alex Pfeffer Thanks a lot, Alex 🙏 Never happened to me before too but a friend of me asked today and I wonder "what if". But I believe this is not something to be paranoid about in everyday work. Thanks again .
