Live Selling - is this the future?
Let's start a debate. Is live selling on platforms like ebay and whatnot the future for online sales? Personally I'm not brave enough to live sell, so I have no selling experience in this topic myself. I've watched a number of live sell auctions on ebay and whatnot, and things do tend to sell fast, buyers look like they get into the excitement of auction buying. Is this your experience?

@Dave Fyfe I think live selling definitely has a place, but I’m not convinced it’s the future of online selling because ultimately, a business model has to work for the person running it. 😊 I must be honest, the thought of live selling feels more stressful than exciting! I much prefer a slower, calmer rhythm where I can research, source carefully, list thoughtfully and let the business work around my life rather than constantly being “on”. And I think that’s something we sometimes forget in reselling: success doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. What energises one reseller can completely exhaust another. The best business model is the one tailored to you, your personality, your available time, your strengths, your tolerance for pressure and, importantly, your own definition of success. There’s no prize for building a business that makes money but leaves you exhausted. For some, live selling may be their perfect environment. For others, slow-and-steady eBay selling might be exactly right. The beauty of reselling is that we get to create our own rhythm. 🤗✅
Does daily listing change anything
Interesting thought for the day, so the last week or so has been crazy busy at home. This has meant the business has taken a backseat, the only thing I have done is send the few orders. But if you look at the number of views they have not significantly dropped. Sales have been shocking but they were no better when I was doing my normal 5 a day. So the question is, does feeding the algorithm daily really matter?

@Kevin Johnson Very thought provoking question, Kevin. Looking back at my 20 years of experience selling on eBay, I’ve come to the conclusion that listing every single day isn’t necessarily the magic ingredient we sometimes think it is. I’ve had periods where I didn’t list for days, and my sales certainly didn’t suddenly fall off a cliff. That said, listing regularly absolutely can help your shop’s overall exposure, simply because you have more items available for buyers to discover, more chances of appearing in searches and more opportunities to make a sale. But I don’t believe you need to religiously feed the algorithm every single day to keep it happy. 😂 For me, profitable stock, good photos, optimised listings, competitive pricing and consistency over time are far more important than chasing a daily listing target just for the sake of it. One of my favourite US reselling YouTubers, Justin Resells, talks about this very point in the video below. Definitely worth a watch! 🤗👍 Sometimes I think we give the eBay algorithm far too much credit, it can survive without being fed every 24 hours… it’s not a newborn baby after all! 😂 https://youtu.be/jikkVKJqTZA?is=8YTt5xPxLF1YVvdB

@Kevin Johnson I totally agree. I think posting for the sake of posting can become a bit of a waste of time if the STR, price or quality isn’t right. I’d much rather focus on good, saleable stock than simply hitting a daily listing number. The results over the next few weeks will certainly be interesting! 😊
Introduction
Hi everyone, I’m John, 34, based in Sunderland. I’ve been reselling part-time for a while now, but lately I’ve really struggled with motivation to keep up with listing. Both of my parents are terminally ill with cancer, so balancing their care alongside everything else has been a massive weight to carry, and reselling naturally took a backseat. I decided to join this community to surround myself with like-minded people, pick up some fresh hints and tips, and hopefully find the spark to regain my drive and get back into the rhythm of things. Looking forward to connecting with you all and learning along the way!

@John Greener Welcome John 🙌 It sounds like you’ve got an enormous amount on your plate, so please don’t be too hard on yourself. Family comes first, eBay listings can wait patiently in the naughty corner! 😂 I hope this community gives you a bit of support, inspiration and a place to switch off from everything else for a while. Wishing you strength, and it’s lovely to have you with us.🤗 🙏
Hi, I’m Jo – Fostering a Fortune 👋
Hi everyone, I’m Jo. You might know me as Fostering a Fortune on various social channels and selling platforms. I’m a UK clothing reseller based in Northampton, selling on the usual platforms, as well as doing live selling on eBay Live and Whatnot. I’ve been reselling for about 18 months and have recently started taking it much more seriously and building it into a proper business. My main focus at the moment is menswear, particularly branded, outdoor, sportswear and vintage pieces, although I still sell a bit of everything! I joined because I’m always keen to learn from other resellers, see what’s working for everyone else and hopefully share a few things I’ve picked up along the way too. Looking forward to getting to know everyone 😊

Best improvement you have brought into your business?
I was pondering this yesterday and I wondered what everyone else would say as it's relevant, no matter where you are in the journey. I'll go first, the best thing I have done for my business is.....take on extra earning potential.. so about a month ago I started doing Uber eats, I'm a 'full time' seller but at the earlier stages so cash flow is always a pinch point. Time is something I had, so I started doing evenings which easily fits around work, school kids etc. But what it's given me is a faster rate of growth as I have available cash flow, and a decreased pressure on those sales coming in. Yes it's 2 'jobs' but it's not hard work really. I realize this is started to sound like an advert, it's not, ebay full time is absolutely the daily. But an extra 1/2/3 hundred a week which can be put into stock helps that scaling curve. I feel like this is a safe place to be honest and I'm not embarrassed by doing it, running a business is tough and it's definitely not a smooth line to success. I would be interested to hear what other people have done, it could be a; listing system, inventory system, time management, sourcing strategy whatever. Could be anything and hopefully it will help spread ideas which is why we are here right.

@Chris Pryke Such a brilliant question, Chris. One of the best improvements I’ve made was creating a second income stream through KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) selling my own journals, planners, trackers, notebooks and colouring books etc. 📚✨ It’s not a huge income (yet! 😂), but it certainly helps, diversifies my income and gives me a creative outlet outside eBay. I think having multiple income streams is incredibly valuable , not necessarily because each one has to be big, but because together they create more stability, freedom and less pressure on any single business. And if I can make money from creating pretty notebooks while having fun… I’m definitely not complaining! 😎🙌
