What’s your favorite way to warm up a cold candidate?
Every recruiter has their go-to move when sliding into a cold convo. Some go direct. Some play the long game. Some go personal. Curious—how do you warm up cold outreach when messaging passive candidates?

For me, the best way to warm up a cold candidate is to make the first touch feel personal without sounding like a copy-paste. I usually: Do a quick scan of their background (LinkedIn, portfolio, or recent activity). Open with something relevant — a project they worked on, a role they held, or even a shared interest. Keep it short, no long walls of text — just enough to spark curiosity. Then I let the follow-ups carry the value (insights about the role, company culture, or even useful resources). The key is not to flood them with information upfront, but to provide value/potential value they can’t ignore. I use automations that generate quick, profile-based icebreakers to save time and keep outreach personal — that way, I can focus on building real conversations instead of juggling scripts. Feel free to reply or send a private DM with any questions, always happy to help!
How to find CEOs that are actually hiring right now
Hey everyone — something I kept running into when doing outreach is that a lot of the companies I’d contact either weren’t hiring at all, or already had an internal recruiter. I know I’m not the only one here who’s felt that frustration. Last week I tested out a system that solved this for me, and now I can build a list of CEOs who are actively looking for talent. Best part — it costs less than $20/month to run. Here’s the breakdown: 1. Use Make.com. This ties everything together. I set it up to run weekly, so every week I automatically get a fresh batch of leads that I know are in the market for new hires. 2. Apify + Anymail Finder. Apify scrapes job postings from LinkedIn, then Anymail Finder helps me pull the right decision maker’s email address. 3. Perplexity AI. If you grab an API key, you can plug it into Make. It researches each company and writes a quick personalized icebreaker, so your outreach feels genuine instead of copy-paste. 4. Send it to your CRM or Google Sheet. That way your emails and data are organized and ready for your campaigns. So now, instead of guessing who might need recruiting help, I’m reaching out only to CEOs that I know are actively trying to fill positions. Makes outreach a lot smoother and a lot more effective. Hope this helps someone here — let me know if you want me to clarify any part of the setup 🙏
