I back from Vacation!
Hey team! I’m back from a much-needed vacation and feeling recharged. This year alone, my small team racked up 70 fights—and with coaching six days a week on top of that, it’s been a grind! I’m pumped to see some new names in here—welcome! Let’s keep the momentum going. I’ve got some exciting things in the pipeline, but I’d love to hear from you: What topics or areas would you like me to dive into next? Drop your thoughts in the comments. Let’s make the second half of the year our best yet. Let’s go, team! 🔥

📅 Week 3 – Striking Setups: Round vs. Straight Shots
Last week we focused on using levels to move your opponent’s guard. This week, we’re shifting focus to attack angles — combining round shots (hooks, kicks) with straight shots (jabs, crosses) to manipulate your opponent’s defense. 🧠 Core Concept: - Straight shots narrow your opponent’s guard, opening up the sides. - Round shots widen the guard, creating lanes for straight attacks. 🎯 This principle works both on the feet and on the ground. Example: From mount — use wide hooks to open the center, then drop hard straights. On the feet — go jab, hook; or body kick to rear straight once they start reacting. 📚 Your study this week: - Use straight shots to set up round ones - Use round attacks to open up straights - Mix your ranges and tools (elbows, kicks, punches) to break predictable rhythm 🛠️ Drill it. Play with it. Make your opponent chase your openings. Drop your favorite combo or a sparring clip where you used this concept below! 👇

💥 Skool Post: Week 2 - Mastering the Art of the Setup! 💥
Hey Team! Welcome to Week 2 of our monthly theme: Striking with the Focus on Setups! Last week, we touched on the foundational concepts, and this week, we're diving deeper into a crucial aspect of effective striking: attacking on one level to set up your strikes on another! Think back to the "ABC process" we discussed: Establish a Credible Threat, Watch your Opponent's Reaction, and Use that Reaction to Set Up your Finishing Blow. This week, we're putting that into practice by playing with levels. We can essentially divide our opponent's body into three primary levels: - High Line: The Head - Middle Line: The Body - Low Line: The Legs The goal is to strategically attack one of these levels to force a reaction, then capitalize on that reaction by striking a different, now open, level. It's all about making your opponent react predictably so you can land your intended shot! Here are some classic examples: - High to Low/Middle: Throw a jab to the head to make their hands rise, then immediately follow up with a strike to the body or a low kick. - Low/Middle to High: Attack the body or throw a low kick to draw their attention downwards, then bring your strike up to the head. As you heard in the video, it's not always as simple as just two attacks. The best strikers are often the best "liars" – you need to hide your true intentions! Establish the threat, add some feints or other attacks, and then, when you see that genuine reaction, go for your primary target. 🔥 Your Weekly Training/Sparring Focus: Attacking on Different Levels! 🔥 This week, I want you to actively incorporate this concept into your training and sparring. Experiment with different combinations that force your partner to react, and then exploit those openings. Pay close attention to their guard shifts and changes. Share your experiences below! What setups are you finding effective? What challenges are you facing? Let's get to work!

Theme for the month of June: Striking set-ups
We are going to continue with having a monthly theme this month the focus will be on striking and setting up you shots. I really want to make this more of a learning experience for you guys and have made this a bit more structured. I will improve on this the coming months Every week will have: ✅ Weekly Focus - 2 Videos each week: - One with focus on concepts and technical examples - One with partner drills (if you don´t have a partner shadowbox and visualize) ✅ Sparring Focus - Instead of just winning rounds, focus on specific skills to move your training forward - Each week, I’ll give you something to focus on during sparring drills so you can level up your game This week’s sparring focus:🔍 Study your opponent’s reactions to your strikes - Pay attention to how they move and respond - Think about how you can use those reactions to set up your next strike. This is how you start creating real openings and setups!
