Found an old book I wrote
I wrote this back in 2008 and all the stuff I was preaching then is pretty relevant now with lots of extras. Maybe I should redo it and publish with video content

Sounds like a plan to me, looking forward to it.

Obut Match 72 690
0 likes • Mar 6
As a newbie I purchased Obut match boules, 72 690 which felt great over the summer months but in the colder weather over winter didn't seem to have the same grip. After playing with a club mates smaller boule today I'm thinking off purchasing a size down (71) but not sure off the weight, would like to think of myself as a decent pointer with aspirations to shoot.Any advice on boule brand and weight would be much appreciated.
Are you playing this weekend?
My first proper practice for 2026 starts this weekend as I’m restricted when it’s cold. First competition is next weekend when I play with a GB junior player to help his game

Club triples this Sunday, teams drawn on the day. As a newbie looking forward to the experience, every day is a school day.
Boule size science
Ok, some of you have been playing for years and have much knowledge of boule size, what determines what size you use? Do the better players use the perfect fit or do some use small or big when they should use the opposite, my sporting history puts me in the tinkering team, so I've already had a few sets, and this will continue im sure lol

The boules that I bought and played through the summer with felt good, now in the cold of winter they don't feel so good. Is temperature also a consideration in boule size and weight 🤔
Warm up pre game
What do you all do pre game? I have no routine yet , I simply rock up get my boule out and throw them for a couple of minutes, sometimes with a jack but mostly without, sometimes I get straight into the game

@James Clapper great points James. I've recently taken to what they call in the fitness industry as "exercise snacking" so on any given day I do mobility/ flexibility exercises multiple times. Shrugs/shoulder and wrist rolls when I'm waiting for the kettle to boil for example.
