Hey Anji! I'm Neeta, also known as Essence, I rap, occasionally produce and my sole focus is mixing and mastering, as it's not my intention to be an artist. Would love to meet the other women on here as well! Definitely not a lot of us.
Free Ear Training Games
Hi!! I stumbled across some free ear training games. So far, I'm impressed. Maybe this can be useful for others too. Audiodrillz

This is a great freebie, thank you Steven! This needs an upvote for those that don't have a membership for soundgym. I played the EQ one, it's solid, I will check out the other ones later.
What's your business goal?
With the Studio Launch Challenge coming up next week (info here) I thought it would be fun to get an idea of what everyone here is working towards. Answer below!

I selected the first option but even doing this part time consistently would be a dream but would require more time management and project management skills compared to doing it full time. There's other ways to make streams of income without solely working on a project but as creative beings I'm sure we'd all love to become a part of the project. I would hope that the event is transparent enough to let people know it's a constant investment, doing my expenses/losses now for tax purposes as a sole proprietor shows how much I've put in simply STARTING the venture, it would be nice to learn some alternative ways I could break even instead of just cold-reaching out to artists that would be a hit/miss.
Studio Launch Challenge (starts Monday)
Hey everyone, excited to share the details of our next virtual event, which is a brand new format! It’s called the “Studio Launch Challenge” and in just 2 days, you will launch your home studio business, so you can start getting clients as a freelance mixing/mastering engineer or producer. Topics covered include: identifying your target avatar, creating your website, setting up your socials, client acquisition, marketing, sales, and more. RSVP via the link below. It’s free to attend, and replays will be sent to all registrants. Starts Monday, March 16th at 9am PDT / 12pm EDT / 4pm GMT / 5pm CET (Note the slightly different start times to usual due to clocks changing in the US but not the UK/Europe yet) RSVP HERE: https://courses.mastering.com/event_full/1772881798836x249903930068959230?utm_source=MemberSkool See you there! -Rob

Will this cover more of the business aspect? Like the type of things you can expense, would mastering.com be sufficient enough to count as a membership for professional networking or ongoing professional development, or is this more brief? Will there be more suggestions beyond cold reaching out to artists to gain work? Aside from demonstrating our own, I imagine there are some people starting out who only have educational material to work with which isn't permitted for portfolio purposes without artist permission so what are some ways that someone can develop credibility considering all the DIY and competition out there? It seems like anyone can make a youtube tip video and seem credible, I'm not in the full time TRE program but I'm curious about how someone who has completed the program lands a successful placement without already having an established network. I have a lot of questions but I unfortunately can't make it to the live session, I'm looking forward to the replays and seeing if I'm on the right track with what I'm currently doing and gaining some insight and ideas on how to continue moving forward. Great session! I wish I could make it live.
FTM Day 2 Replay Insight at 01:20:00 "How to Reach LUFS"
I noticed this interesting discussion in February 2026 FTM Day 2 replay about how we can reach the same LUFS level yet end up with completely different results depending on how we get there. Scenario 1: Forcing the Foundation Toward the LUFS Target In this approach, pushing the foundation harder into the limiter to reach the desired LUFS level causes the limiter to reduce dynamic range. It does this by raising the sustain closer to the transient peaks, shrinking the space between the sustain and the transients. As a result, we LOSE DEPTH and the mix sounds flat. Scenario 2: Adding Low-End to the Sustain of the Foundation to Reach LUFS Target Instead of squeezing dynamics to get louder, this approach increases perceived loudness by enhancing the low-end energy in the sustain. In this approach, we DON'T LOSE DEPTH because the transient-to-sustain relationship stays intact. Depth is preserved! Loudness comes from fullness, not limiting.
