Fix This Merch: The New-Client Tumbler
You land a new six-month client and send them a nice branded tumbler. Nothing wrong with the tumbler. But the real goal is to make the client feel confident they made the right choice and make the first 30 days easier. So here’s your challenge: what would you change? Would you keep the tumbler and add something tied to onboarding? Replace it completely? Change when it arrives? Tell me what you’d do and why.

I would Send a quality custom notebook organized specifically for the six-month engagement. Include sections for goals, decisions, action items, results, and questions for the next meeting. Add a QR code linking directly to the client portal, onboarding calendar, or welcome video.with their name. Also, possibly include a custom paperweight.

@Barbara Hobart In 2007 I worked on a team and had an idea to create a paperweight for our team. Since it was my idea I was given one and still have it. It is in a nice blue box and lovely.
Welcome. Start here and please introduce yourself!
I am so glad you're here. If you've ever spent money on branded products that went nowhere — got ignored, tossed, or quietly ended up in a drawer — this is where that stops. This community is built for business owners, brand builders, and marketers who are done treating merch like an afterthought and ready to use it as a real strategic tool. Here's what to expect: In the Classroom you'll find four core modules walking you through how to think about merch strategically — from choosing the right product to building loyalty and revenue. Each one is short, direct, and built around real decisions you'll actually make. Download the worksheets. Use them. In this community expect real conversations, honest answers, product feedback, sourcing questions, and examples of merch that works — and merch that doesn't. No fluff. Just strategy. I've spent 30 years creating over 1M products for brands from founder-led companies to Netflix and Coca-Cola. Everything I teach comes from what actually works in the real world. Now let's talk about you. Drop your answer below — one or all three: 🎯 What kind of business are you building merch for? 🎯 What's the #1 problem you've had with branded products in the past? (Too expensive? Wrong product? Nobody used it? Not sure where to start?) 🎯 What would a win look like for you in the next 90 days? Would you like a 1:1 chat with Barbara? Just send me a DM or post it in the chat when you introduce yourself, and I'll send you the link to book a personal call to help you get started with merch.

I am creating swag for my podcast The HopeMidwife. Also, on a separate niche I create merch for my not for profit for Fibromyalgia using Etsy. I have used Etsy/Printful and Printify. Shipping is expensive. I now prefer digital products to save money on shipping for journals, planners and journals. I also design my own graphics and print using UVDTF and ship for some other products. We no longer ship mugs because of cost.

Unboxing my new CARD DECK🪄
Wait, what??? I shared this on socials this week and missed sharing it with you!🙈 Drum roll... 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗸. Created. Designed. Sent to printer. Published. 100 decks. 52 pattern interruption card prompts for coaching, conversation and table talks. (𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘵@Barbara Hobart🙌) Who dis??? 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝘀: 🔥Either/or questions in 7 categories (visibility, identity, productivity, boundaries, decisions, confidence, Gone Bold) 🔥10 good girl behavior categories with prompts (the yes girl, proving, the wallflower, etc) 🔥2 inherited belief cards with prompt. Protection pattern work (the core of what I do) in card deck form.🔥 So I pulled one today. Today's card: "Prioritizing my needs is selfish." Whose voice does that sound like today? 👀 This framework deck idea is the BOMB. It's a perfect way to share your method, framework, customer journey in an interactive way. Never did I ever imagine this possibility until @Barbara Hobart came into my life. This one piece of merch has given me a vision that is 1000 times bigger than I had before. It's not just a giveaway or promo to remember my brand. It's an embodiment of my brand. THis isn't your father's merch. The possibilities are limitless. Oh, BTW, how can I forget my FIRST merch order, just in time for fall. Portable campfire kit for S'mores! My brand on a sticker on a box. Brilliant idea. Who else is doing card decks?

What Would You Make With a $20 Budget?
A paid business community wants to reward members who complete a 30-day implementation sprint. Budget: $20 per person. About 50 members will earn it each quarter. The product needs to feel earned, connect to what they accomplished and ideally nudge them toward the next step. What would you make? You can choose one product, a small kit, or something completely custom. The only rule: don’t pick it just because it fits the $20 budget. Tell me your idea and the job you think it would do. I’ll weigh in on the strongest ones.

Some ideas: The Next Move Card Deck A custom deck of 30 action cards containing business prompts such as “Follow up with one lead,” “Improve one process,” or “Make one visible offer.” Members select their next action after completing the sprint. It rewards progress while encouraging continued implementation. 2. The Momentum Journal A compact, premium spiral journal designed specifically for graduates. Include pages for accomplishments, lessons learned, unfinished tasks, and the next 30-day goal. The first page could say, “You didn’t just plan it—you completed it.” It becomes a practical tool for the next sprint. 3.I would create a custom “Momentum Marker”—a small desktop achievement plaque with “30-Day Sprint Completed” and a reusable space that says, “My next move is…” Members would write their next 30-day goal with an included dry-erase marker. It celebrates what they completed while keeping their momentum and next commitment visible every day.
What Would You Make for This Workshop?
Hypothetical: 150 people are attending a workshop that you're hosting. Budget: $18 per person. The product has to do two things: 1. It must be used during the workshop. 2. It must have a legitimate reason to go home afterward. What would you make? No defaulting to the usual suspects (mug, pen, t-shirt, cap) just because they fit the budget. Tell me the product, how it gets used in the room, and why someone would still want it a month later.

This is something I have done twice that was successful:I would create a mini canvas kit. Brand it. Each participant would receive a 5×7 canvas board, a small coordinated paint set, a brush, and a miniature wooden display easel. During the workshop, they would paint one meaningful word, color, or symbol representing what they want to carry into their next season—such as hope, courage, peace, or begin again. They would take the completed artwork and easel home to display on a desk, nightstand, or shelf. A month later, it would still serve as a personal reminder of the intention they chose during the workshop—not merely as branded merchandise.
