Yeah, I can see the Diablo inspiration in it, but I guess it doesn't scream Diablo to me a whole lot. Maybe that's just because it's a different style of game than Diablo, of course lol. I can definitely see a few things that look like Diablo, though. Like the health and mana bars both look like the ones in Diablo 2, and of course, the way all the items glow when they drop...... that was a funny catch when I realized it. ....and the way they all spread out when they drop too LOL awesome!!! Without playing it myself, I don't think there's much that I could suggest about changing it to be MORE like Diablo since it probably isn't the same type of game. I think it looks pretty good so far. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

I'm really new, so I'm just using Claude Code for writing python for some simple games, but I am excited to see this and have some ideas of the kinds of tools I can try out. Thank you very much for this nice photo! ๐Ÿ˜Š
How best to start?
I'm basically a newbie here and I've currently been using the Claude Code extension in VS Code and AntiGravity to work on a project, which means I have all the files in a folder on my computer and it's using Pygame as the interpreter to load the game. After I've seen some of the projects shared in this group, though, it makes me wonder if I'm taking the longer, more difficult route right now, because I know I'll have to have a bunch of different asset files in order to improve the graphics and do things like that, so I'm wondering if there is a better way to start out as a beginner in order to create some better-looking games. So far, all I have is this very rough-looking first workable iteration, and I started looking for ways to create sprites and other graphics to replace the placeholders for the troops in this turn-based strategy game. What is everyone else using for creating games? I know Lovable is supposed to be a good option, but I'm not sure how much control you would have over managing and owning the code. I'm open to learning anything and everything I can on this, so please don't hesitate to share your knowledge and experience and help me figure out the best starting point. I really appreciate anything anyone can provide! Thanks guys!

@Morgan Page Thank you for the information! That's helpful. Can you please explain one thing for me though? In your setup, you say you use Codex, Claude, and Antigravity for game design. What exactly would you say separates game design from coding? I think I might have an idea, but from my understanding, even the game design is coding, really. You're basically writing the code that helps create the structure and functions of the game, and therefor "designing it." Please help me learn what I'm missing with my understanding. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

@Morgan Page Yes, that's helpful. Thanks. So then, if you're not using Claude or Antigravity for coding, are you mostly just using them for brainstorming ideas and such? What kind of work do they actually do for you? Are they modifying the files in any way?
Just Starting
Hey I'm Nathan, I'm working on a Turn-based Strategy game, inspired by Advance Wars, just as a first attempt at a more complex game than Nibbles (the first one I made in about 20 mins lol). I have some minor experience with coding. I have studied Python off-and-on again for several years, but have never had the motivation to dig in deep and spend the real time it takes to get good at it. Now I'm using Claude Code to help me get past that early barrier to entry. I don't yet know what my "dream game" would be that I'd want to build, but I know FPS games are my favorite, and I'm just excited to think about having a great game that I can be proud of building. ๐Ÿ˜ Thank you everyone for this great community. I'm really excited to be here!

Iโ€™m looking for a few Android testers for my new small satirical mobile game โ€œMerz Leck Eierโ€. ๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿ” Quick context for non-Germans: Friedrich Merz is the current German Chancellor, and โ€œLeck Eierโ€ is a dumb German wordplay around โ€œlick eggsโ€ / childish political satire. Step 1: Join tester group: groups.google.com/g/nootcode-tester Step 2: Become a tester: play.google.com/apps/testing/com.merz.leckeier Step 3: Download the game: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.merz.leckeier The game is currently only in German, but the core gameplay should still be easy to understand.
