@Sharon Clare HI Sharon. Staying focused on the work or the exam question is very common. For analysis, ecnourage your child to always pause when analysing and thinking 'what else does it suggest or imply?' before simply moving on. Leaving to develop on their ideas is the key to adding detail and receiving higher marks.

We’ve got another fantastic set of live lessons next week, designed to build confidence, improve analysis skills and help students understand exactly what examiners are looking for in both AQA and Edexcel GCSE English. 🧪 Wednesday 6:30–7:00pm Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde – The Theme of Mystery and Tension In this lesson, students will explore how Stevenson creates mystery and tension throughout the novella. We’ll cover: • How mystery is introduced and developed • Key moments and quotations linked to tension • How to analyse Stevenson’s methods clearly • Links to AQA and Edexcel assessment objectives • Opportunities for students to contribute and practise ideas This is a key theme that appears regularly in exam questions. 🎄 Wednesday 7:00–7:30pm A Christmas Carol – Marley and the Ghosts: How They Help Scrooge Change This lesson will focus on Marley and the three spirits, and how Dickens uses them to drive Scrooge’s transformation.
