Overthinking
What are the best ways to stop panicking and overthinking whilst i am in an exam.

Hi @Tia Tia do you plan? Planning, even if just writing timings and any key information down can stop you panicking as it allows you to brain dump everything. So for English literature, highlight the focus of the question then note down scenes and quotes that relate to the question. Each scene or quote can form the basis of your paragraphs. If you need help with analysis in your writing, consider including key ideas (not in depth) next to each quote too. I hope it helps 😊

We’re so proud of the growing community here with many of you asking how our Skool lessons compare to our small group tuition packages. So here’s a quick breakdown to help you choose what’s best for your child 👇 🎓 Skool Lessons These are content-focused sessions designed to build confidence and reinforce understanding of: - Key skills - Important scenes or themes - Character breakdowns - Model exam questions 🗣️ Students can join in with group discussions and model responses will be provided, but there’s: 🚫 No personalised feedback 🚫 No homework or follow up tasks 🚫 No student worksheets or resources ✅ Great for students who want a helpful top-up alongside their regular studies. 🌟 Small Group Tuition Packages (Premium Support) Our tuition groups are designed for students who need more tailored, interactive support. Each session includes: ✅ Live, individual feedback from an experienced teacher and examiner ✅ All resources provided (no printing or prep needed!) ✅ Weekly homework tasks with marking and feedback ✅ Full lesson recordings for revision ✅ Regular assessments to track progress ✅ Exam practise sessions for Year 11 students This is a high-support environment focused on real improvement, ideal for students aiming to move up a grade or two, prepare for mocks or build confidence in specific areas. 📩 Interested in tuition for your child? ✏️ What’s the Difference Between Skool Lessons And Our Small Group Tuition?
✍️ Throwback Thursday!
Remember when we learned how to explode quotations to reach that top-level analysis? 💥 This skill is one of the biggest game-changers for your English essays — it’s what moves you from “the quote shows…” to “this suggests deeper ideas about…”. So here’s your challenge today 👊 1️⃣ Pick one quote you’ve already analysed (from An Inspector Calls, Macbeth, or a poem etc ). 2️⃣ See if you can push your analysis further: - What hidden ideas or emotions does it suggest? - How does it link to the writer’s message or context? - Can you connect it to a bigger theme like power, guilt, or identity? 3️⃣ Rewrite your analysis Feel free to share your quote and your best interpretation!🔥

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde: 'The moment I choose, I can be rid of Mr. Hyde. I give you my hand upon that; and I swear to you that I will never set eyes on him again.' (Chapter 5) False sense of control - Jekyll believes he can control Hyde, but the reader later learns this is self deception. - Suggests hubris - an overconfidence in his power over his darker side. - Reflects Victorian desire to maintain reputation while hiding immoral behaviour. Language: “swear” and “never” - Strong, absolute language implies finality, but creates dramatic irony as we know Hyde returns. - Foreshadows Jekyll’s eventual loss of control and tragic downfall. Theme of duality and repression - Jekyll represses Hyde but cannot destroy him. - Links to Freud’s theory of the id (Hyde) overpowering the ego (Jekyll). - Shows that repressing desires doesn’t eliminate them as they resurface more violently. Effect on reader - Creates suspense. Will Jekyll keep his word? - Evokes pity as Jekyll seems trapped in his own experiment. - Encourages reader to question human nature - are we ever free from our darker impulses?
